Today Charlie joined me at school for VT Writes Day where he spoke with students about writing. Of course, this is just after he got the news that he was chosen as a quarterfinalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novelist Award. I finally got my hair cut today. My hair had gotten really long. I'll post pics of my new 'do soon. This is me a few days before the cut.
I haven't put my hair up like this in awhile, but I felt like playing with it today, so here you go.
it's been awhile since i did some heidi's. took a little more time getting ready this morning when i remembered it's braid wednesday.

.This hairstyle consists of a single central braid at the crown flanked by a 'rope' twist above each ear...the remaining bulk of the hair was French braided, using an undersweeping motion. To complete the look the crown braid and two twists were interwoven around the French braid to form an 'attach e' bun..and thats that!

Just the other day my sister taught me how to braid hair. I wasn't a quick enough learner for her, sadly, so she had to do it herself.
Today is the birthday of a very close friend of mine (who refuses to be photographed). She has been involved with this project -- often choosing which of many images make it up here every day -- from the very beginning. She's also the one who gifted me the Pro subscription, for which I cannot thank her enough.

The photo above shows two versions of the same braid. The only difference is that each has a different strand order. On the left, the strand order is ABBA (shown in the step-by-step instructions below). On the right the method is the same but the strand order is ABAB.
I grew my beard (usually kept short) for six months just so I could braid it like this for the masquerade...
This started out as a tortured tee shirt I had laying around for quite some time. I cut it into thin strips and sewed the ends to a strip of extra jersey left over from the sleeves. Then I braided the strips and sewed up the other end with another sleeve. Then I put my hair up in a loose bun and tied the headband below the bun and tucked the ends under. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out but I think I will keep experimenting until I perfect it. Maybe next time I'll use a hot pink shirt!
