ITV Border's Sandy McCracken arrived at the cottage with cameraman Paul yesterday to film a short piece for the ITV programme "Border Life". The sun shone brightly and the Cruck Cottage looked fantastic following the recent repairs carried out to the thatched roof and having been freshly lime washed by our army of community volunteers.
Once again local residents came along to help us make this another "special" occasion, becoming the audience for the day. Interviews were given by Michael, Willie and Bill Lawson providing an insight into the Cruck Cottages past, present and future - they were excellent.
Our thanks to all those who once again gave their time to help us - it is, as always, greatly appreciated!

As of January 30, 2010, the company operated 511 Borders superstores in the world, including 508 in the U.S. and three in Puerto Rico.
On February 16, 2011, Borders applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and began liquidating 226 of its stores in the United States. Despite an offer from the private-equity firm Najafi Companies, Borders was not able to find a buyer before its July 17 bidding deadline, and therefore began liquidating its remaining 399 retail outlets on July 22, with the last remaining stores closing their doors on Sunday, September 18, 2011.[5] The Chapter 11 case is ultimately being converted to Chapter 7

Borders always look their best end-on. You can't see the gaps.
This year's lack of water coupled with the very poor soil here has kept many plants smaller than usual and a lot of bare soil in between.
It looks good like this though doesn't it.
Couldn't easily be more different to my borders at home that really are over-full from any angle. I assume it's the richer soil.

Hey my name is John willkins and im driving through some county i allready have forgotten whats called but i think two days ago i ended up at this border passing and the guards there was armd to the teeth they had watch post whit a heavy gunner and the guards had ak so i guess they get alot of bad guy roundt here. - J.Willkins

Late colour in the walled garden at Beningbrough Hall, a property owned since 1958 by the National Trust. Beningbrough was built in 1716 by York landowner John Bourchier III. It replaced his family's modest Elizabethan manor house. The identity of the mansion's designer is unknown.
