ITV Border's Sandy McCracken arrived at the cottage with cameraman Paul yesterday to film a short piece for the ITV programme "Border Life". The sun shone brightly and the Cruck Cottage looked fantastic following the recent repairs carried out to the thatched roof and having been freshly lime washed by our army of community volunteers.
Once again local residents came along to help us make this another "special" occasion, becoming the audience for the day. Interviews were given by Michael, Willie and Bill Lawson providing an insight into the Cruck Cottages past, present and future - they were excellent.
Our thanks to all those who once again gave their time to help us - it is, as always, greatly appreciated!
Took part in the 2nd cross border run from Gretna to Carlisle, it was a very hot one indeed . Thanks to Rob Westgarth for asking me to run for the Carlisle Audi team and also Julie Tiffen who made up our 3 man/woman team.
A great effort from everyone today..
The Cumbrian next !!
Also thanks to my wife Kristy who took all the photos ..
So named because it was the last link in completing a continuous railway line running between London and Edinburgh and is situated close to the border between England and Scotland. The bridge was opened by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on 29 August 1850, three years after construction began.
Although Border Country is more a state of heart and
mind than a place, I spend much time searching for a
place to match my state of heart and mind, knowing
that when I find it – and document it in images –
some hidden, unexplored corner of my own self
will be revealed.

Vito, when his owners were on a holiday. They didn't want to put him in a kennel, as he spent 4 years of his life behind bars.

Once again, here a few odd facts about the state of Maryland:
In Baltimore, Maryland, it is illegal to take a lion to the movies.
In Maryland, it’s illegal to play Randy Newman’s “Short People” on the radio
In the town of Rockville, citizens may not swim in the public fountains within the city limits.

Shy Ben is slowly coming out of his shell. When we rescued him a year ago he didn't know what to do with a ball. He had never put a paw in a house. Every day he gets a little cheekier.
Keeping things watered here in summer-dry California is quite a job. We now have a self-made drip system for most plants, done by my husband. Even though we have fog and damp ground every morning in the summer here on the coast, it is still dry.
