Apparently, this fence was ordered by the Uzbeks to prevent illegal border crossing, and was built by prisoners who were promised early release after finishing the fence.

A view North East directly along the English-Welsh border as it runs though Fenns moss. The post on the left is a border post with England and Wales written on their respective sides.
Took part in the 2nd cross border run from Gretna to Carlisle, it was a very hot one indeed . Thanks to Rob Westgarth for asking me to run for the Carlisle Audi team and also Julie Tiffen who made up our 3 man/woman team.
A great effort from everyone today..

I was trying to photograph the plow behind him, but Zeb kept getting in the way and insisting that I throw the frisbee for him, so I gave up and took his picture, then threw the frisbee.

Bordered Patch Chlosyne lacinia on Frogfruit Phyla nodiflora in Refugio, Texas. There was at least 50 of them flying about. June 2010

(At home, I have a copy of the original 1908 survey of the International Border Line, as agreed to between Canada and USA... When I looked for the exact point I was at in the "gate" image (below), I see that there actually WAS/IS a crossing at that location, BEFORE the line was agreed to. Awesome, or what !!!)
