It was all going well until the vets. After a little snooze I woke up with an itchy belly and this lamp shade on my head! D'oh...

An entry for the Challenge Group 115 pictures in 2015 No.21 Spade. and also for our camera club monthly project - The Garden
I have found photographing something to represent 'The garden, or Gardening' and a a spade in particular, a challenge in all respects. This shot, taken with a fairly wide angle, is of a wonderful little stainless steel border spade (we also have the matching fork) given to my wife by her godmother Evelyn, many years ago when age and disability forced Evelyn to give up gardening.
The spade is in one of our flower borders in front of a red Scabious plant, with the flower heads moving slightly in the breeze, giving a slight blur effect. I have desaturated the greens and yellows and enhanced the reds for my offering. The original SOOC shot is in the first comment box below.
This is the 8th year of my ongoing project: Double exposures of my father and me with my Pouva. This time Brocken, Germany.
Some day I might reach the point where I am as old as my father was when I started the project. I like the idea of how both of us change, but that there's always the same difference in age between us.

8th day :
Bevet ( Cambodia Border ) after Moc Bai (Vietnam Border)

The United States Border Patrol operates 71 traffic checkpoints, including 32 permanent traffic checkpoints, near the southern border of the United States. There are a number of Border Patrol checkpoints in the northern states. within 100 miles from the Canadian border. After 9/11 they took on the additional role of terrorism deterrence. The border patrol uses dogs to help search every car.
Borders shop at Inverness Retail Park about a month after its closure in December 2009. A pity as it had a good selection of books of perhaps limited general appeal which would not be found in Waterstones let alone Tesco. eg a selection of the Loeb editions of classical authors. Not much use to me but illustrative of the wide range of stock they carried. A cynic might say that's why they went bust. This last week Waterstone's chief executive has been given the boot after a poor performance and the new man says they they need to move away from celebrity autogiographies and trashy potboilers (not his exact words).

Crossing the border into Derbyshire brought me to Marston on Dove from its sister village (in name at least) on the other side. The church of St Mary is an imposing building in a very rural setting, and would doubtless look lovely on a bright sunny day, but alas this dull dark morning brought with it a sense of bleakness.
Nevertheless I hoped I might get lucky again and be able to see inside, but alas it was not to be. The church appears to be kept locked at most times aside from services,so I had to be content with a few glimpses through those of the mainly plain-glazed windows I could actually reach the sill of to peer inside in some form (the camera against the glass was able to see better than I actually could!).
