I'd been to this store a couple times; it closed before the Borders bankruptcy, but I'm not sure when
Bishop Minerva Carcaño and Guillermo Navarrete pray by the border in El Faro Park. United Methodist bishops from all over the world visit the U.S. - Mexico border to immerse themselves in the reality of life at the Southern border of the U.S. and sharpen their focus on how the church can be in ministry to persons residing there on May 7, 2013. I've been told that this was one of the Borders chain's most lucrative locations, and the only bookstore on Long Island's North Fork. (The truth of these statements may be contested - this Christian bookstore in Riverhead is still open.) Former employees at this Borders and locals are hoping to see another store like Books-A-Million can move into the location. Anything but another bank IMHO!
Location: On the Riverhead Bypass (County Route 58), between Osborn Avenue and Mills Road - Riverhead, New York.

Closing Reception & Readings: October 6, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Closing Conference: October 7, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora: Troubling Borders in Literature and Art is an exhibition and conference featuring the writings and artwork of Southeast Asian women in the diaspora, highlighting women of Cambodian, Laotian, Filipino and Vietnamese descent and by women who identify as the often stateless Mien, Hmong, and Cham. In the aftermath of the cold war, many of these women now reside in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and other parts of the world. As an incredibly diverse group, their voices make visible the ruptures caused by colonization, war, globalization, and militarization.

This fine healthy young boar grizzly was grazing daily at the Dalton Cache Alaska U. S. Customs station, on the south end of the Haines Highway.
Customs officials joked that he was their mascot, and would use him for 'enforcement' if anyone got out of hand.
He hung around the area for 6 weeks or so, while the summer wildfowers were plentiful. He made for many good photo-ops for tourists (staying IN their vehicles), as he completely ignored the attention he was getting.

These people keep making rafts and floating across the border to my land so I put up this High Tech Security Fence, hired over a hundred guards and spaced them out evenly across the 50 feet of my border. I armed them with Flame Throwers and Missile Launchers. All in all, it cost a small fortune but I think it's worth it to keep those unannounced Family visits to a minimum.
