My first Metra-Pace trip to Gurnee; many hours including a canceled (!) 2pm return train, which was never announced to the 100+ passengers waiting at Waukegan (station's closed then). Also, if you do a 4 1/2 hour (actually 7 with having to take the 4pm train) round trip, make sure you haven't forgotten your bank card, or you'll have to put back a few good books. Oops!
As my Mother's ancestors were from the Scottish Borders, this painting represents events my Kin may have been involved with. In the background is a Fortified Tower, prevalent in Northumberland known as a Pele or Peel Tower. Cattle underneath and family above, both protected from Raiders (or Reivers).
The mapshws the first survey of border strongholds, which wass ordere by Henry V in 1415. Castles are shown in red, towers in black
I lied. More scanned in photos for your viewing pleasure. This is the northern border of Papua New Guinea with Indonesia (Irian Jaya / West Papua province). I'm in PNG looking west, the border is on the top of the hill.
I was thinking the light grey crosshatch for a small border, and then the green seeds for the binding?
Right now the top is 24 x 14 - if I add a border, it would make it about 28 x 18.
Should I skip the border and just do binding?

These are really samples of borders. Instead of using the borders for parts of other cross stitch, I stitched the whole page! There are three pages of this book I did.
I am a sucker for samplers alpha or borders or anything sample like. I also like shadow cross stitch.

Today there is of course no more border control, no two seperate german republics and no transit route anymore. The roadhouse is derelict...
