Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and we all need vitamins. So why not an orange, egg and lemon mix to boost our vitamins intake. And since I have a very busy day ahead (with some major laundry folding, vacuuming and a 10km run) I will need the extra energy and motivation for sure!!

Happy green day !! See you later my friends !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

First time I have seen, or photographed one of these, UKs most threatened butterfly. The male is on the left.

I decided to take a drive down to south Devon to camp for several nights, with the specific intention of spending a day on Aish Tor to see HBFs. So I spent 8 hours on Sunday on Aish Tor. It was exceedingly hard work, once I got up onto the hillside, having parked in my ignorance of the location, at Newbridge car park down on the River Dart; it was sultry and very hot and the butterflies had twin turbo boost full on: they simply never seemed to stop moving. Added to that, there were ticks everywhere in the sea of metre high bracken that covered the hillside, so long sleeves and trousers tucked into socks was de rigeur and made it even less comfortable!

Having spent much of the the morning, tagging along with a lady who had been before and seemed to know the best location, I branched off alone to search higher up the slopes where fritillaries seemed more frequent. It was 3 hours altogether before I had one settled on bramble flower in a less than ideal location, low down in a corner of a small area cleared of bracken. In mid afternoon another one showed up to investigate dog poo on the path where I was resting. Not long after that I had another male nectaring on bramble, but it was tight to photograph in a narrow path trodden through the bracken. Late in the afternoon I was shown these two mating specimens by a couple I spoke to, which probably saved the day!

Thank you for your faves and comments.

Promoters of Echinacea believe it boosts the immune system. Seeing these first thing on a dewy morning certainly boosted my mood even without ingesting any of it.

Bundar is a 6 year old male Malayan tiger. With only about 250 remaining in the wild Malayan tigers are the most at risk tigers for going extinct. Without managed care to boost their numbers, and to ensure genetic diversity, they will most likely go extinct.

Coffee is everything you need... sometimes ;)

Asystasia gangetica is a plant native to India. It is an herbaceous flowering plant and can be used as ground cover in gardens and borders due to its low growing size of 2ft. This plant requires full sun, semi-shade and regular watering to thrive in any soil, but with an extra boost from compost. When it blooms, its flowers can be shades of pink, white, off-white, blue, lavender and purple. This stunning display often also attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.

Explore #1 - Highest Position, October 3rd. Thanks everyone!

Earlier this week, the central California coast was blessed with its first real sunset since the summer marine layer began way back in May. That light caused a furor around the Bay Area, with lots of photogs hoping that the winter sunset season had begun.

So it came as no surprise when this past week I received a flurry of text messages asking how the evening clouds looked here at the coast in Santa Cruz. But sadly, the entire week was crystal-clear and cloudless. Until Friday night that is. A few clouds started to build, but nothing to get too exited about. Nevertheless, I knew there were some keen shooters out there, so I got in touch with Jave and David, and talked about the clouds a bit.

Both guys decided to roll on out to the coast to shoot Natural Bridges even if it meant shooting in less than spectacular conditions. As we got to the beach however, it became apparent that the sky was going to BLOW UP (to use the appropriately Jave vernacular). When the color did arrive, it was so full and beautiful that it caused us to lose all rationality and run around like chickens, scratching in the sand and shooting shooting shooting.

Afterward we kept talking about how it was the best light we've ever seen at NB (either in person or in photos). Simply amazing.

Built for the Space Rally Racers category of this year's Space Jam, this one was a frustratingly fun exercise in shape and color. Race shop co-owner Chris Perron might have had an influence with that ;)

Thanks, Chris, for the valuable feedback and boosts of motivation along the way, and thanks to my mechanic Marin for sourcing some spare parts on really short notice!

As noted on the previous image, I was on my way home when I spotted this view from Cook's Meadow - couldn't pull over fast enough. Several views were taken from here and further up into the meadow, with this one being one of the best. Weather conditions was moving the clouds at a good pace, so used Photomatix (in stead of Aurora 2017) for freezing the clouds (see dialog on the previous image). A 5-exposure bracket @ 1 EV was used for this image. I did use a Polarizing filter (on lens) to help with the clarity and color boost.

I captured the two images that make up this Vertorama on Thursday last week… less than a minute before I got totally drenched by the most incredible thunderstorm that I have seen in years!!

As soon as I heard the first thunderclap and noticed the rapidly darkening sky… I was in my car and driving like a lunatic towards Melkbos Strand… where I hoped that I would find some nice compositions to accompany this amazing weather. I arrived at the beach just as the first drop of rain hit my windscreen… and I judged that I’d have no more than about five minutes of shooting before the heavens opened up.

Except for some fishermen a few hundred meters away… and this father and daughter enjoying the water… the beach was completely deserted. It was so hot and humid that I was considering going for a swim myself… I’m glad that I decided to shoot rather than swim though… I got so completely soaked by the rain… that I certainly didn’t need to go for a swim to cool down. :)

The sky in this Vertorama might look like I darkened it and boosted the contrast… but this was exactly how it looked… very dark… and very oppressive… a month’s worth of clouds all packed into one sky… it was totally awesome… more than I could have wished for!!

Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm at 15mm, aperture of f10, with a 1/500th second exposure.

The image today was taken late this Afternoon in the Spon Street area of Coventry. The view is one of what is thought to be the oldest pair of Semi Detached houses in England. The buildings date back to the 15th Century and were restored between 1969 - 1970. The restoration of these houses marked the beginning of the ambitious Spon Street conservation and relocation project.

The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy Photo to delete a couple of Ballards and an Advertisement sign from the front of the building. After this I used Snapseed to further edit the picture. I cropped and Straightened the image and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then boosted the Contrast, Saturation, Warmth and Shadows. I also decreased the Highlights. After this I used the app Mextures to apply the formula called Bleu by Cora Edwards. Next I used the app DistressedFX to add the Stirred Overlay and the Bliss Texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Drama FX and a Large dark vignette. I then applied the Old Paper preset and the Leather frame.

Just got my vaccine booster today!
