Details of one of the two A.J.Davies windows from the nave of the chapel.
In March 2015 work began on the demolition of the Victorian chapel at Leicester Royal Infirmary, the controversial action being the first stage in an expansion of the present hospital complex. Sadly the chapel was deemed to be in the way of these plans and sacrificed, but fortunately all the stained glass windows were rescued from the building before work began.
The windows were removed by Norgrove Studios of Redditch, where I took the opportunity to photograph all the panels before they were packed away to be put into storage and face an uncertain future (I had photographed the complete windows when they were still in situ a year earlier). There is talk of mounting some of the windows in artificially lit units at some stage as all served as memorials to former staff at the hospital.
However there is some concern over which might receive this priority treatment; there has been talk of returning the four Kempe saints to view purely because he is believed to be the most significant artist represented in the chapel's windows. However three Arts & Crafts windows at the west end were in my mind the more significant pieces here, but it isn't clear what might be done with them, or the Victorian and modern windows from the apse.
Therefore I show the windows in detail here, very likely for the last time in natural daylight, with the aim of keeping the memory of their beauty and craftsmanship alive.

The lower the papal basilica of San Gennaro in Antignano is one of the monumental churches of Naples is located in the Municipality Arenella V - Vomero Vomero in the District , in Via San Gennaro Antignano No. 82 .
The basilica was begun December 27, 1904 and completed in 1968 , was created a minor basilica by Pope Pius X, March 17, 1905 , declared a " pontifical " in 1912 and established as a parish in 1956 by the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Marcello Mimmi , currently aggregated to parish of St. John the Baptist of the Florentines ) of the Vomero area of the 5th Deanery of the Archdiocese of Naples.
It is near the place where , in 315 , there was , for the first time , the prodigy of the merger of the blood of St. Januarius , after that , in 1897 , had been carried out the demolition of the memorial chapel (from which the place derives popular name of " abbasci'ê ccappelle " (NAP) ( " down to the chapels " ( GB)) , which were , in fact , two dedicated respectively to St. Januarius and St. Peter), and after the failure of the project , commissioned by Ferdinand II of Bourbon , construction of a basilica modeled on that of St. Francis of Paola , designed by Francesco Hats and Giuliano Taglialatela .
The church was founded in the Middle Ages (the exact date is uncertain ) . From 1825 to the nearby chapel of San Gennaro became Vacchiano and took possession of the family , perhaps, to be called by the name of the owners (specifically chapel Vacchiano ) , which sold it to King Ferdinand II of Bourbon in 1857 was shot down in large part to the end of the nineteenth century.
Not far from the building at the beginning of the path of Cerra , stands an old shrine with a marble effigy of the head of St. Januarius , Vacchiano taken from the existing chapel , erected in 1707 by the owners of the nearby villa Pontaniana , on the same site and always named after the saint , to commemorate , according to legend , the first miraculous liquefaction of his blood , which took place , according to a local tradition , the passage of the martyr's bones along that road during the reign of Constantine.
In 1902, Monsignor Gennaro Sperindeo (1870 - Naples , 1954) planned the construction of a church by collecting alms , given the outrage of local residents for the demolition of the old chapel and also at the sixteenth centenary of the martyrdom of san Gennaro .
The land that was supposed to host the church was being built , at first , located in the front (on the other side of the road , one in the south, where it was placed by the chapel demolished ) which , then , indeed, was built basilica.
The first ground was exposed to the north and , therefore, the facade of the basilica was dark and , given the slope of the north-south road , sunken , it was swapped with that of the front ( north ) and work began on the construction .
On 27 December 1904 it was the first stone .
On 10 September 1905 he was inaugurated , opening worship only the crypt .
The work continued with very slow due to financial problems .
On 19 September 1932 was opened for worship throughout the church , but had yet to be finished , lacking even the façade cladding .
In 1968, the church was finally completed.

My friend's father helped to create this peaceful space in his friend's backyard. Dr. Odden wrote the blessings at each point in the labrynth and friends and family helped to decorate the teepee that is pictured.
If you were to start walking the labyrinth you would start at the "in the east sign" and continue..ending in the centre of the labyrinth.

Most - if not all - of Fr. Jo's guests fell in line for individual blessings from the newly-ordained priest.
I wanted to participate in a project. I am not sure if I will actually do 52 of these photos, but I will try. I have decided not to actively participate in 52 Blessings, but I will post images and explain why I am thankful for what is represented in the image.
What I really like about 52 Blessings is the focus on a particular good thing in my life instead of wants or disappoints. In life, I like to focus on the good. RW calls me Pollyanna. He states that it is the quality that first attracted him to me.
Here is my first blessing: Medicine. First of all, I'm thankful that there is medicine available for the illness that I have. A lot people don't realize that medicine and cures don't exist for all of the illnesses. Second, I'm thankful that I have good health insurance. A visit to the urgent care and 3 prescriptions cost me $80.00. Thirdly, I'm thankful that I'm recovering. Fourthly, I'm thankful that I've a husband who loves and cares for me during sickness and health.

There are two categories of Buddhist monks in Thailand.
One comprises those who become monks for long periods, sometimes for life, and the other those who enter the Order temporarily. To serve in the monkhood even for a short period is considered a great merit-earning attainment by the Thai Buddhists. Even kings follow this age-old custom.
Government officials are allowed leave with full pay for a period of four months in order to serve in monkhood. The idea is to enable young men to gain knowledge of Buddhism and thereby to become good citizens. Life as a monk gives them practical experience of how an ideal Buddhist life should be. In rural districts the general tendency is still to give more deference to those who have already served in monkhood. Such people are supposed to be more "mature" than those who have not undergone the monk's life.
Moreover, in Thailand wats (monasteries and temples) used to be and are still regarded as seats of learning where all men, irrespective of life's position, could go and avail themselves of education benefits. This is especially so in the case of economically handicapped males of the countryside. Instances are not lacking in which people have climbed high up on life's status ladder after obtaining education while in monkhood. There are neither religious restrictions nor social disapproval against monks' returning to lay life if and when they find themselves unable to discharge their duties as monks.
My school, St. Bonaventure University, offers a semesterly "Blessing of the Brains" before finals week, bringing together the campus community for faith, fellowship, and much-needed stress relief. Good luck to all of my friends taking finals and may peace be with all of you.

This is painting 7, project 1. I listened to the "Blessing Nigun" by Giora Feidman as I was painting it. It's a lovely clarinet melody. I was taught a sacred dance to this music. I was trying to paint our dance circle. Hear it below:

Retread Thursday brings sad and grateful feelings today.
I got this one owner 70K mile Bonneville SSE in 2005 for $1800.00 . Just liked the style and ride of it. Kept it in the garage most of the time. On a Sunday night in June 2006 I was going to ride the bike to work but at the last minute I decided to take the car. A drunk driver in a stolen van ran a red light and I could not avoid the impact. Just fractions of a second and I shutter to think of what a direct hit would have meant. More than that I am blessed that I didn't ride the bike that evening. How many times have I been blessed and didn't even know it. Thank God for those blessings and those to follow!
