Domesticated Bleeding Heart is open now; the native will be along in a while.

In Flagship Picture of the Day

How it got it's name..Each blossom of the bleeding heart resembles a hanging heart, matured, has a spur beneath the heart that resembles a drop of blood.

When you say someone has a bleeding heart...Someone who is excessively sympathetic toward those who claim to be exploited or underprivileged.

If you are poetically inclined..You may say you have a bleeding heart if it's broken or breaking.

Another version of a photo I posted in June.

This one is dedicated to my flickr friend Joy Elizabeth...

Today Benni and I were walking alone so I took my pocket camera and was noticing the different colors on this big Sycamore. As I got closer I saw the heart: Annie + Jeff 7/15/11. Annie and Jeff may or may not still be together but I believe they made the tree bleed. Look how the red surrounds their names. Eerie.

Mycena haematopus I believe. Did not know ID or would have cut to check for bleeding. Very fresh cluster, still slightly pruinose and has veil remnants on margins.

This was the first time I ever seen bleeding hearts in person. I saw them on my way to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

This vine is in my neighbour's garden and it looks so beautiful at the moment. They have it growing over a frame and it is covered in gorgeous pink flowers.

May 17, 2006. Bleeding Heart (Dicentra) blooming away. A little peek of Lamium or spotted dead nettle is visible in this shot, as well as some new growth on the boring old yew bush.

Clerodendrum thomsoniae. At the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT.

I've had a hard time trying to get a shot of our bleeding hearts. This is the best I could do.. They are so cool I could not go without posting something!

I hadn't noticed the heart at the bottom until after I posted it to Flickr. I liked how turned out!

"..we wear the mask that grins and lies,

it hides our cheeks and shades our eyes-

this debt we pay to human guile;

with torn and bleeding hearts we smile."

Sobieski park and Florist garden.

The Florists’ Gardens are certainly among the most beautiful green areas of the Brussels region. Hosting old greenhouses from the time of Leopold II who has initiated this park, the Florist’s Gardens also offer a magnificent view on the city and are a harbor of piece close to one of the most visited attractions of Brussels, the Atomium.

Sobieski park is the Park adjoining the Colonial Garden and the Florists' Garden.

The Florists’ Gardens can be reached via the Sobieski park (close to metro Stuyvenbergh).

Ryan's favourite; chocolate cupcake with raspberry frosting from Bleeding Heart Bakery in Chicago.

I have pink and white bleeding hearts blooming in my garden at the moment, but I think the white hearts are even more gorgeous, just pure beauty!

They make me think at Leona Lewis song "Bleeding Love" People from the US may not know her right now, but I think you'll get to know her soon, she won x-factor in England and made it to fame all over Europe very fast because her voice is so so fabulous, she is our young Whitney! If you like to see and hear the video Bleeding Love have a look here: www.myvideo.de/watch/2993156/Leona_Lewis_Bleeding_Love

Bleeding hearts beside my house for my macro photography class, Humber College, Toronto, Ontario.

My bleeding hearts are doing well in the garden this year, I love being able to photograph the flowers and plants I have grown, 2 of my favourite hobbies combined.
