One of the flowers on the Bleeding Heart shrub in the garden. It comes back year after year and always produces masses of these unusual flowers.

Bleeding heart grows best in cool, moist conditions. Flower colors include yellow, pink, red, and white. Height ranges from 6 inches to 2 feet, depending on variety.
Lamprocapnos spectabilis is a flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae, native to Siberia, northern China, Korea and Japan. It is the sole species in the monotypic genus Lamprocapnos, but is still widely referenced under its old name Dicentra spectabilis (now listed as a synonym). It is valued in gardens and in floristry for its heart-shaped pink and white flowers, borne in spring
The arching horizontal racemes of up to 20 pendent flowers are born in spring and early summer. The outer petals are bright fuchsia-pink, while the inner ones are white. The flowers resemble a heart with a droplet beneath. In a moist and cool climate, it will grow in full sun, but in warmer and drier climates it requires some shade
Taken at a showcase exhibition at the Mesa Arts Center, sponsored by the Phoenix-area Fred Astaire studios as a benefit for MS patients. This is the same couple shown in several other images in my stream, including this one, which tells the story behind the series. I took 39 pictures of this couple during their very riveting performance, of which a good percentage turned out quite well.
Named for the distinctive colouration of its breast feathers, this native of the Philippines was happy to pose in a walk-through aviary at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.

I like the leaves in the background almost as much as I like the delicacy of the flowers in the foreground. Taken in my neighbor Janet's garden.

I love pink bleeding hearts. I spotted these in a neighbor's yard while walking Jasmine this afternoon. When we got back home, I grabbed my macro lens and went back.
The bleeding hearts are in full bloom in both the front and back yards. These are from the back yard.
