Pretty interesting song if you actually listen to the words. I didn't like it a whole lot at first for some reason, then I actually listened and it's amazing :)
So another day of doing nothing at home alone. I really need to start packing. I have to be out of here soon. I just get so discouraged that I have to do it all myself. :/ I'm starting with Leilani's room, then going to the kitchen, then living room, my room and bathroom. . . I can do it!!! That will be my mauntra for the next few days. lol

The yellow gunk on it's pronotum is reflex-bleeding and is an alkoloid toxin produced when the ladybird feels threatened. In this case it clearly felt threatened by a bloke with a camera using a leaf to prod it into the right pose. Sorry old chum but we did get the shot in the end.

I'm sad to see the end of this little beauty for this year. As the summer progresses, the glorious golden foliage turns dark green. Soo glad to see it return this year so strongly. I"ll try to feed it up well over the summer.

Michel (or was it Michael?) had quite the looks, with the bleeding flying skulls and the dark clothing. He immediately agreed to be part of the project. I asked him how he picked his outfit and he said he's into metal and goth and that gave him the inspiration. One very cool fact about Michel is that he's been a magician for 7 years; he's put that line of work aside for a moment because he has another job now but he'd really like to go back to magic. I asked him if he had a stage name, something like "the Amazing Michel" or something like that and he said that he had different personas and that his stage name changed according to how he felt any particular day.

Bleeding heart plant in the garden. I can't believe how nice the weather has been for the past week.. I was busy up until Friday and now I've got a horrible cold so I can only really make it into the garden to enjoy it

Another day at the hospital... On this particular Friday Jacob bought a new skateboard deck at Amused (local skate shop) as he had broke his while doing tricks off of a flight of stairs. He also bruised his elbow which was causing him some pain. According to Jacob "I'll be riding again this afternoon, it's too much fun to take time off."
This is a story about Hemophilia – a genetic bleeding disorder that my nephews Jacob Age 12 (pictured in this story) and Jeremy Age 24 both have.
Blood clotting, or coagulation, is the process that controls bleeding. It changes blood from a liquid to a solid. It's a complex process involving as many as 20 different plasma proteins, or blood clotting factors. Normally, a complex chemical process occurs using these clotting factors to form a substance called fibrin that stops bleeding. When certain coagulation factors are deficient or missing, the process doesn't occur normally.
In people with bleeding disorders, clotting factors are missing or don't work as they should. This causes them to bleed for a longer time, bruise easier and have greater joint pain than those whose blood factor levels are normal.

Today is the Memorial Service for my dear friend Karen Sykes, who lost her life while hiking on Mt. Rainier doing research for an article she was writing. Karen was a famed guidebook writer, blogger, hiker, photographer and lover of the wilderness. I miss her.
