Bleeding hearts ... to me they look more like hearts in flight. Little balloon hearts drifting up carrying wishes.
Texture added.
Found in my neighborhood.
A wet rainy day. 'Spent most of the day napping-- catching up on some rest as it's been draining caring for Emory and hiking w/Sean & Jasmine.

Bleeding Heart. along Wascana Creek between Elphinstone nd Albert, Regina, Sasktchewan, Canada, 26 May 2015
hiding amongst leaf litter on a steep slope running down tot he waters' edge, an outcrop of beautiful fungi climbing up over each other like a skyrise apartment block
The name bleeding heart is derived from the blossom's resemblance to a puffy pink heart with two drops at its tip. The shape of the flower has led to some other interesting common names. "Lyre flower" refers to the fully-opened flower, which is shaped like a small harp; "Dutchman's trousers" comes from the flower's resemblance to a pair of baggy pants. To understand the name "lady in the bath," it is necessary to hold the flower pointed-side up. Gently depress the pink petals to expose the white "lady," or inner petal of the flower.
The flowers open beginning in April, dangling along the plant's gracefully arching stems. If in a location to its liking and not allowed to dry out, a large specimen will display blooms for as long as four to six weeks. The gray-green leaves are soft, lacy and finely divided. The most commonly found bleeding heart has blossoms of pale to deep pink, but there is also a white-flowered version, Dicentra spectabilis "Alba."
I was so excited to find these bleeding hearts flowers!! They were hiding behind some bushes.. It's been so cold here and the flowers that normally bloom haven't yet..
I want to wish all of you beautiful Moms a very Happy Mothers Day!!! ♥
These flowers were planted in the yard 17 yrs ago, by my daughter. They always delight me when they come back each spring. I`m using the definition as a homograph here

Still have a lot to learn with this whole "macro thing". Loving my new lens so far, and I'm sure I'll only get better if I invest more time into learning. Bleeding Hearts have always been one of my favorite plants. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do!
Today I selected new plants for my garden not on the basis of a carefully thought over planting plan but on their photographic quality.
