This beautiful perennial shows up every year about this time in my flower bed. The name fits it very well. The perfect plant to show our love for this wonderful season.
Best viewed large.
Lamprocapnos spectabilis (formerly Dicentra spectabilis); also known as old-fashioned bleeding-heart, Venus's car, Lady in a bath, Dutchman's trousers, or Lyre-flower
I thought I missed out on capturing these this year and despite them being a bit beyond peak, they still look good.
The paper is violated,
Soiled by my thoughts,
My pen weeps in trembling hands
Choking as it clots.
Crippling ideas seize
Every word it ever wrote,
Now it spurts as it fights
The lump in its throat.
Haunted by precipitous grief
It seeks to rejoice,
But bound on the rocks
Lies its crucified voice.
Through abysmal despair
Mute visions cry,
But my hands will not stop
Their eyes from running dry.
Thoughts are slaughtered
In flocks and herds,
Now I've stained my hands
With bleeding words.
Insensate mindlessness
I know not what I say,
My hands have lost their mind -
My words have lost their way...

Pushing my photoshop skills here. Im not so good at, but I had an Idea that I just had to execute. This is for MACRO MONDAYS THEME LOVE SONGS. Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. Macro of a small heart that I drew on the bathroom window after it was all steamed up. Added the color with photo shop. Im not that good with it and I think I like it plain black and white better. not sure. Ahh drama. HMM

Bleeding hearts ... to me they look more like hearts in flight. Little balloon hearts drifting up carrying wishes.
Texture added.
Found in my neighborhood.
A wet rainy day. 'Spent most of the day napping-- catching up on some rest as it's been draining caring for Emory and hiking w/Sean & Jasmine.

Bleeding Heart. along Wascana Creek between Elphinstone nd Albert, Regina, Sasktchewan, Canada, 26 May 2015
hiding amongst leaf litter on a steep slope running down tot he waters' edge, an outcrop of beautiful fungi climbing up over each other like a skyrise apartment block
The name bleeding heart is derived from the blossom's resemblance to a puffy pink heart with two drops at its tip. The shape of the flower has led to some other interesting common names. "Lyre flower" refers to the fully-opened flower, which is shaped like a small harp; "Dutchman's trousers" comes from the flower's resemblance to a pair of baggy pants. To understand the name "lady in the bath," it is necessary to hold the flower pointed-side up. Gently depress the pink petals to expose the white "lady," or inner petal of the flower.
The flowers open beginning in April, dangling along the plant's gracefully arching stems. If in a location to its liking and not allowed to dry out, a large specimen will display blooms for as long as four to six weeks. The gray-green leaves are soft, lacy and finely divided. The most commonly found bleeding heart has blossoms of pale to deep pink, but there is also a white-flowered version, Dicentra spectabilis "Alba."
I was so excited to find these bleeding hearts flowers!! They were hiding behind some bushes.. It's been so cold here and the flowers that normally bloom haven't yet..
I want to wish all of you beautiful Moms a very Happy Mothers Day!!! ♥
