from last year around this time.
we don't got much of this here yet so i am shooting b&w film in the meantime... and enjoying this autumn sunshine. yay for that last bit.
I've been toying with the idea of making my own prayer flags. Raw-edged, meant to unravel bit by woolly bit in the breeze.
I sat behind a sewing machine for the first time in nearly 20 years, and these have been a good bit of play. Something to help me relearn, something small, fun, practice-full. Something to bring me slowly and gently back into the work and world of creating.
The Gangnam area in Seoul is famous for its modern touch, but it also hosts one of the holiest temple in Korea.
The temple is called Bongeunsa and occupies a large area in one of the world's most valuable real estate area.
A bit older photo of course, but he does periodically stop bathing and forget to put down his paw. This boy is simply remarkable, by the way. So many good features! He's a pacifist. Not an ounce of aggression in him, really. If he's not sure or someone else is hissing, he sits down. That trill-y meep is his trademark. The added neck extension makes it all that much more adorable. When Grigsby first encountered Gumbo he ran over to him from the other side of the room to greet him. When he bumped noses, he got a disappointing response. Gumbo hissed. So Grigsby backed up and sat down. Poor, dear Grigsby. So far he gets out of his room with supervision. Even the Queen tolerates him amazingly well. I guess I can say that. She truly pretends he doesn't exist. It's been a hoot to watch her deliberately ignoring him. I think she knows there's a bigger threat to her reign, a 56-pound, 4 1/2-month-old puppy. Oh, another good thing about Grigsby is he prefers using the Litter Robot, an enclosed litter box essentially, over the open one I have out in his room. Now, he stares at it suspiciously when it spins, but that doesn't deter him from using it. And, my, but he is a talker. Not sure my husband cares for that feature to his personality. At least we can always easily find him if he walks out of the room. Oh, I stuck a couple of tongue shots in the comments. After all, it's Tuesday!

These are smaller pieces of ice known as “bergy bits” and “growlers.” Bergy bits and growlers can originate from glaciers or shelf ice, and may also be the result of a large iceberg that has broken up. A bergy bit is a medium to large fragment of ice. Amazing to note that the average age of iceberg ice is 10, 000 years.
This seems to be a Saddlebag Dragonfly, and if that's right it is a first for me.
Conditions were challenging. Light was harsh, as the blossom demonstrates. It was quite cold (40s F), and this one was a bit sluggish.
The colors are muted because, well, they were muted. I did NOTHING in processing to enhance the veins in the saddlebags. That's the way it looked.
In a desperate search for a title for this (I'm really at a loss for titles lately), I searched for quotes using various combinations of words this photo made me think of, and "pond fairies" brought up:
The Doctor: Who's Amy? You were Amelia.
Amy: Yeah? And now I'm Amy.
The Doctor: Amelia Pond. That was a great name.
Amy: Bit fairy tale.
As a member of a family of Doctor Who geeks, this works for me.
e arrives in new york today :)

A bit of fun with an iPhone shot.
Our Daily Challenge - November 2, 2016 - "Glow"
Daily Dog Challenge 1829. "Warmth"
Why is so much easier to play around with a happy-snappy iPhone shot than one taken with the Nikon?
This one had the Glow version (also upload) blended into the other version that looks rather like this one.
I was trying to give it a bit of "glow" without it turning into red and blue squiggly lines.

Years ago, I had a wonderful spring trip to the Okanagan. There I saw some special birds who all had a little blue to their color display.
Another shot from the West Park, to show you a bit more of the Enclosure sculpture.
West Park also known as Watts Park after the monument of Isaac Watts which occupies a central position opposite the the Civic Centre.
The sculpture ‘Enclosure’ by Paul De Monchaux added in 2000 was commissioned under the heritage lottery fund scheme. The four metre high stone sculpture frames four skyline landmarks in and around the park.

Bit of a busy background, but first time observing this particular bee mimicking fly! Apparently, it's typical for them to sun themselves in the springtime on piles of leftover fallen leaves, which is exactly what this one was doing. Interesting to see the pattern of the white hairs. Photo taken during a walk at Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse in Montréal, QC, Canada.
Pentax D-FA 100mm F/2.8 Macro plus off-camera diffused Yongnuo YN-560 III flash. This is a pretty large insect - not quite at MFD here, but close.
