Just the last wet. steeep section to do now Vincent!! Cup of tea as your reward at the bottom!! At the lovely King George IV pub at Eskdale!!

Vincent came up from down south for a week on his fancy Honda!

As part of that we are doing a two day ride to the Lake District, to 'do' the passes and then back via North Yorkshire Moors and the Tan Hill Inn..

Little did we know that this was our last ride out together!

Few months later Vincent died from a fast growing inoperable brain tumour.. 😢

Oh argh I thought when I was at the bus stop on Saturday morning.

WAY too early for the bus as usual but that is when I spy things to photograph.

Of course I scampered up their driveway when I spied this and I really did think that this has been loved to bits.

Talyllyn Railway no. 3 Sir Haydn and no. 4 Edward Thomas approach Abergynolwyn with a passenger train from Tywyn.

Both locos were built for the Corris Railway. No. 3 dates from 1878, having been built by Hughes' Loco and Tramway Engine Co. Ltd. at the Falcon Engine and Car Works in Loughborough (works no. 323), while no. 4 was built by Kerr, Stuart and Co. Ltd. (works no. 4047) in 1921.

Taken during a photo charter organised by David Williams, on the third of three days.

Having unnecessarily taken the pole with me at some of the lineside photo stops when we were climbed to a point where we looked down on the railway, I left it on the train when we stopped here. But I quickly realised that if I'd brought it with me it would have been useful to (a) stand behind people and see over their heads rather than get the odd elbow on the left-hand edge of a frame, and (b) get the train completely clear of the lineside fence when it was closer to the tree on the right (and I could have stood further back and included the whole of the gate as well as some of the path leading down to it). Never mind... one to remember next time!

No, this wasn't a Hollywood shoot, it's a real 425-pound silverback gorilla being wheeled out of surgery. The primate, named Vip, underwent a procedure to fix a sinus infection that spun out of control. The procedure was performed at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA.

Man Bits art collection. April-May 2016. By RS Jenkins/Flaming City Photography.

A bit of a long story with this image - so here goes.

Firstly, I wish I could show this in its original 3D or stereo format. Not just the hand is in 3D but also the line drawing - so the car itself is also in three dimensions and really stands out from the background street scene. It was taken to enter in a 3D photo competition (which I utterly failed to win!) and was one of those shots that I loved more for what it took to get it from an idea through to an actual 3D shot.

Basically, the background Ferrari (a red one of course) was a colour 3D slide taken with my old RBT 3D camera. This slide was then scanned with a Canon flatbed scanner. That image file (both left and right 3D images) was converted with an old imaging program into a black and white line drawing. Each of the resulting left and right images was then printed out on A4 paper. Then came the tricky bit of having my wife's hand holding the pencil in front of each of the left and right images, both of which had to be photographed individually with a different 3D camera so as to be able to have a left image of the hand appear over the left image of the car, and then the same with the right view of the same hand appearing over the right image of the car. End result was a 3D hand over a 3D drawing! All that trouble and I didn't even get an honourable mention! Sigh....

It was one of those ridiculously convoluted processes that was a heap of fun to think up, then actually have a go at.

So, what you are seeing is a scan of a slide of a print of a scan of a slide!

It involved a 3D RBT stereo camera, a Canon flatbed scanner, a Canon 300V SLR stereo twin rig, then a Canon R10!

There are two tributaries that join together in the park to make the fast flowing river Aire. This is the slow half!

Now we'll leave out tonight with one of Grimsby's later ex-Manchester additions, looking a little bit... well, logo-less. Grimsby is a bit behind on new livery repaint, so it seems. Thankfully, the destination on this was easier to take, even if it is a bit wonky, although I'd hoped to catch this with 5W blinds up. Unfortunately, the driver was in the process of changing them over, and I managed to catch them a bit too late. Oh well, there's always next time.

The final double-decker of the day, Stagecoach Grimsby-Cleethorpes' 19074, a 2006 ADL Enviro400 new to Stagecoach Manchester before coming up to Grimsby-Cleethorpes in 2020, is seen having just started on the 5W - although not displaying it - along Pelham Road.

Bit of a schoolboy error lead me to make an unplanned visit to Corabia on 15 September 2021. Two trains were booked to leave from platform 1 at Caracal around the same time to head off in opposite directions. The trains weren't plated up and no electronic departure boards at the station either. Fortunately the line was needed and I managed to replan the rest of the days travels without any loss of new track. I just ended up arriving at my destination for the night 3 hours late causing a bit of a issue with my pre-booked accommodation.

These 4-wheel railcars built from 1935 onwards are still in service in Romania. Hard plastic seats and extremely rough riding along with poor ventilation. Tough travel conditions for over three hours on a hot afternoon in mid September.

Seen here is 770953 ready to form train R9064, 15:30 Corabia to Piatra Olt. At the time of visiting, the branch saw two passenger workings a day - this and an early morning one from Caracal returning back soon after arrival. The branch sees freight traffic though despite next to the river Danube isn't one that sees goods transported via one of several rail connected ports.

A little more beach... because I loved it at Cayton Bay :) and I wish I was there instead of work each day!

I managed to capture the last bit of the fish as it went down. I just wish I the photo had turned out better.

The only sunshine I've seen in the past two weeks! I suppose I could have cropped it a little bit and gotten rid of some of the softness on the right side, but meh, oh well.

With a bit of photoshop trickery anyone can leave the ground. Although I really must either lose some weight (unlikely!) or find a stronger box to stand on, the plastic storage box I used for this pretty much collapsed under the strain.

Apologies to anyone mentally scarred by the sight of ma' belly!

Bit of a rush job, I wish I could have spent more time with it, but I basically had 30 minutes to get to the location, get the shot and get it processed. It doesn't look quite as "real" as it could if I had more time. I shall be back to revisit this when I have a bit more time to get it right.
