Looking every bit the new kid on the block on its newly-laid section of concrete sleeper track class 484 EMU 484 004 approaches the southern extremity of the Island Line route network at Shanklin. Although the single-line track is newly laid and packed with the mainland-style grey ballast there is still lots of the former rounded shingle as previously used for track ballast to be seen here and there along the Island Line's route.
With a bit of a delay, but still very nice. The picture actually was taken on March, 8 2009 but stitched on December, 12 - as I said, bit of a delay. It was very cold in Boston that day so we had to go from coffee shop to coffee shop to warm up and take pictures in between...
