From the 9th LightGiants friday night shoot, the theme was "Birds of Paradise."
It is a common ornamental plant in Southern California, and has been chosen as the Official Flower of the City of Los Angeles, where they are all but unkillable.

The plant grows to 2 m (6.6 ft) tall, with large, strong leaves 25–70 cm (9.8–28 in) long and 10–30 cm (3.9–12 in) broad, produced on petioles up to 1 m (39 in) long. The leaves are evergreen and arranged in two ranks, making a fan-shaped crown. The flowers stand above the foliage at the tips of long stalks. The hard, beak-like sheath from which the flower emerges is termed the spathe. This is placed perpendicular to the stem, which gives it the appearance of a bird's head and beak; it makes a durable perch for holding the sunbirds which pollinate the flowers.

Had a photo shoot with my beautiful friend Roselyn and her family. We've worked together before but we went to a new location this time and struck gold! A beautiful Bird Paradise on the outskirts of our town, very rustic.
This picture is pretty much SOOC, a bit of lighting adjustments is all.

Somebody put little swivel eyes on each side of every single one of these birds-of-paradise flowers. they looked crazy and hilarious.

Dont they look surpisingly similar to birds!
I composed the shot to make the flowers appear more "life-like" and as though they are ready to strike their prey.
The Bird of Paradise flower is so called because it resembles the plumage of said bird. However, it is also called the Crane Flower, again because of its resemblance to a bird, in this case a crane with its head thrown back and its beak open.
