A New Beginning
Oct 2010
Gift for Alan and Jennifer Stearn
well I made this piece and did get a photo before grouting but of all things forgot to take it after grouting. I grouted in black and the colors popped. The frame was old and I just distressed it a bit and hope that it works well in their home
Made with many of my pottery pieces
Bead necklaces from my moms jewelry
stained glass
broken plates
sliced agate
old picture frame
gemstones
beads
ceramic and glass tiles
The tree of life for their new beginning, the heart for them and many little objects that have wonderful meanings and will get a "new beginning" in their home
The sun rising signifies the start of a new day. We have to get out of bed and face the new day, just like we have had to every other day of our lives. Each day, however, represents a whole new set of opportunities, what we do with this gift of another day on this Earth is up to us, we should make the most of it.
We should look at each morning as a new beginning.

A new beginning
Well, maybe you noticed, maybe you didn't but I've been out of order for a while.
It was time for a new beginning
For some reason, my site crashed and I was not able to post any photos or posts.
Together with my hosting provider, we tried everything and we still don't know what happened the last few weeks.
I noticed they had quite some tickets going on. Due to all the hacker news lately, I guess it had something to do with that.
But they did an awesome job! Very happy with them.
A fresh start for my website
Anyways, it gave me the opportunity to set things straight and start over with the website.
Creating the Galleries and Portfolio in a new way. (not much to see there right now)
Especially the naming of the photos, which actually was a mess. Nothing wrong with a new beginning.
The photo above was one of the photos which had to be published in December.
Unfortunately, this didn't happen.
But keep an eye on my site again. I'm back online.
Galleries and Portfolio and what else will follow soon.
Posting on social media
As soon as possible I'll start posting again on my social media platforms.
That has been my goal for the last 4 years and I like to continue doing so.
Holliday greetings
For now, I wish all of you happy holidays and an amazing 2023.
Make these days worth sharing with your friends and family.
You all take care!!
For me, capturing this photo was more than just a snap of the theater on Hennepin and Lagoon...
Life on earth has an uncanny way of breaking apart at the seams when we "least expect it." Emotionally, Financially, Physically; one day we're singing joy off of rooftops, and the next it's all dark grey, vacant. Caught with our naked backs to the spear, and the wind at our face, we fall. At the bottom, it seems an eternity, like swimming through mud, without direction.
But then, laying down, just as you press your head to the concrete, a lone bulb flickers at the edge of the marquee. Zip zip zip, buzz. Somehow light stays in the old amber glass, and then just as quickly, it stops.
You go on the next few days feeling something new. Filaments have long been known to spontaneously "ghost spark" long after they split from exhaustion. You don't tell anyone, but you know it now; the theater will soon thrive once again. It is now just a matter of time before the lights shine bright and the show goes on.
There is something special about new beginnings. They give us hope. Hope is what gets us through the next swim.

The new Year is upon us, and many of the issues that we have had in 2007 may serve yet to be resolved. I know that many of my grievances still stand, but with a new year can come a new beginning.
We all make resolutions for bettering ourselves... get fit... stop smoking... stop drinking... and the list goes on, but not many people satisfy their New Year's Resolution. They continually stray from the promise they have made and fall back into the old habit that they are trying to relinquish. It is a vicious circle, indeed.
So instead of trying to promise yourself something that you know will just disappoint you in the long run, and maybe even grow increasingly hard to resist, promise yourself this...
Do a little better for others. I don't mean to try and build a shelter for the homeless, or to hand out food for the soup kitchen (though that would be an AMAZING sacrifice of your time), just do something for someone who you see down. Sit beside that co-worker who is going through a rough time and chat with them. Buy a coffee or sandwich for the guy on the corner of the street (I don't give them change, myself, for it can just throw them back into their vicious circle that got them there in the first place). Just simple things like this can help make this world a better place.
Should you be the co-worker saddened by the strife in you world (which is my story), just try and remember that there are people out there who are still good in this world, and they will help. All you have to do is ask. If you are too humble to ask (me again), just pray. God does answer your prayers, but it is in ways that he works through others that the answer comes.
My resolution is a simple, yet powerful one, and I know that it will help me for the rest of my time. I am in decent shape, so I'm not going to resolve to go to the gym. I have never tried smoking, so I am not going to quit what I have not started. And I very seldom drink, so it is not a problem for me, nor does it lead to other problems. I am going to resolve to do something I do everyday... I am going to promise to say a prayer every morning before work, or just when I feel I need to. It's not going to take much of my time, but it is appreciated more than you can imagine.
I am not a member of any church, nor am I baptised, nor am I that religious... but I know that God plays a careful part in all of our lives, and just by thanking him and asking for what we truly NEED, he will remind us of his strength.
Thank you for reading this, and just remember... the world is what we make it, so respect the other residents and we will all get along. If this can be read by just one person and give them a bit of help, I would feel that I have accomplished what I set out to do here.
My First entry for Salon8 1/26

When we come to it
We must confess that we are the possible...
We are the miraculous, the true wonders of this world
Free to choose our ends, and our new beginnings
That is when, and only when...
We come to it

that is the chance to use the plasma ball i got in a jul klapp (secret santa) last year. here it is... the light comes from an effect called "electric glow discharge" and has something to do with nobel gases and electricity...
Beginning Fall: I dug out one og my older cameras - just because I didn't want to carry a lot. So I came across that 60mm APSC lens, that I don't use a lot. Today that seemed to be a good choice, I got some nice shots although it was a walk with my partner, and she does not like to wait an hour until I have finished my composition ... ;-) I'm sure many photographers know that.
"the beginning is purification, that's the first step..And purification means purification of body & mind. You don't purify the body without cleansing the mind; thats the way it works."
Rolling Thunder, Cherokee
I have bad thoughts or "poison" in my mind, they eventually show up in my body in the form of many various problems. It works this way because we are interconnected. My brain & your body are interconnected. my brain and your body are one system. So when i start to grow or when I accept the path, we need to start cleaning up our thoughts and i start showing respect for our bodies. I give thanks for life and start showing respect. Today, I'm going to observe my hearts desire and will have heavenly thoughts today.
I ask Great Spirits, let me focus on *love* today so my mind will be pure, as U seek...as I desire and dream.
A heavenly dawn pic in the early morning as I give blessings to all, as well as purification for me, as well as you. The beginning that I wish for all.

ODC 3 challenge........ beginning
I found this on my hike and it reminded me that even though in my mind fall is the beginning of the end, for many it is truly the beginning.
