Happy New Year everyone!

Iris reticulata shoots poking through the brief snow fall at the weekend.

When the snow finally disappeared by the beginning of this week, Cleo returned to her duties as the watchcat of the family. She carefully checked the garden for any kind of irregularities and then planted herself on the stairs and made sure that she'd be noticed by any possible intruder. The weather was really nice on Monday, when I took this picture, which made Cleo's job quite easy. In the meantime it's awefully windy and rainy again, not exactly Cleo's preferred working atmosphere, but for the moment she has decided to stay tough.

My Project 52 failed, which is sad, but I'm determined to rediscover my love of photography after quite a long period of apathy. I'm even going to attempt to resurrect my blog, which you can conveniently access here:

1824AD, 9th February, Warren's Blacking factory, 30 Hungerford Stairs, The Strand, London. A young Charles Dickens starts work labeling pots of bootblack.

The short time spent in this work is thought to have given Charles Dickens inspiration for his later work, in particular Oliver Twist.

By chance my oldest son is studying the Victorians at school and suggested this build to go in my display!

This is a part of my section of my contribution to the 'London 1875 - Capital of an Empire' display by Brick To The Past which will be at STEAM and Brick.com

A proverb for this light conditions. Do you know it?

I'm going off the grid for 4 months time starting in just under 10 days! Can't wait to disappear from reality from a while, and working on a horse ranch in the high Sierra Nevada mountains sounds like an awesome way to do it! I hope everyone's summer is off to a great start, and if not, get out and adventure some!

After a rather uninteresting sunrise this image presented itself. I guess I'll have to pay attention to the weather forecast. Please view large

Photographs inspired by human aspects, and symbols representing these human aspects. This symbol represents our need to know how everything started, why we're here and what our purpose is in life, we study the beginning, we become obsessed with the beginning, I would love to know what this photograph says to you and how you read it(: let me know!

"In The Beginning" by Patti Deters. A luminous cross radiates from the center of the cosmic "big bang", surrounded by a multitude of stars. A deep space galaxy with hues of blue, purple, and pink surround the bright white flare, creating a mysterious and celestial picture of the beginning of time. This artwork walks the line between abstract, astronomical, and spiritual, inviting the viewer to reflect on the mystery and magnitude of creation. Thank you for viewing this picture.
