Friends of mine wanted some picture made for a Birthday present for their mother.

Using a roll of Savage Super White background paper I was having issues getting the background color the way I wanted it. I ended up putting the SB-600 w/Honl Gel BEHIND the paper and shooting through it. The tough part was getting the color burst where I wanted it in relation to the subject.

These two used to work in the office upstairs.

I need to get my shit together,

you have no idea.

Here is a picture of the bedsheet I sleep upon every night. This is a picture of what it looks like before I make my bed, I kind of liked the way the wrinkles looked so I took a picture for the "Red" topic.

From a sheet I used when I was a kid: "I feel the need to have the feeling that it's good to be alive."

Here's the finished blue burst dress. Made from an Ikea bedsheet. Previous steps detailed here. It's about the 8th time I've made this particular, supersimple jumper dress. I'm always recreating this dress as a sort of uniform. I love wearing them and that they are a sort of blank canvas to have loads of fun with with color, pattern and texture. More uniforms here.

The silk scarf is from Dharma Trading and dyed baby blue. The shirt is a large men's button down linen shirt from the thrift store which I took off the collar and cuffs off. Also dyed that blue blue.

My old room in Columbia, SC. My parents tell me we didn't have AC, but I sure don't remember that detail. I loved these toys, used to play in here for hours, and outside in my sandbox. I had a friend named Todd who was a neighbor's kid from accross the street, and was friends with a couple of brothers of a Catholic family who lived in the house right in back of ours. We liked to throw pine cones at each other, among other things.

A bedsheet treasure trove from our newly opened Goodwill. The intent is to use these (which are way cheaper than fabric) for test versions of stuff I sew. Some of them are worth saving for a final product, though!

My third attempt at a shirt. It was waaaay too small (anybody want it? LOL!) and fraught with difficulty. I had to rip many seams... Made with a thrifted bedsheet using the Built By Wendy Simplicity 3835 pattern. Blogged here.

This could best be described as a few strokes of paint on a plastered canvas, mounted to an invisible wooden frame and displayed on a piece of cloth formerly used as a bedsheet for little children. That's about all.

My bed. Which is apparently over-run by Noids. I can't avoid him!

Perhaps our most dangerous demons are the ones we take to bed....

So I was sick for day 7 (it couldn't have had anything to do with running around in the woods half naked for my previous days), and I didn't actually get to shoot a picture. I wanted to share something for this day anyway....I took this image a few days later and thought it turned out kind of interesting. This is a theme I am thinking of exploring in greater depth for one of my future shoots as well.

More from the Fabulous Baker Girls!

I was really pleased that I got to work with these very wonderful young women again.

Spent the evening cutting 24 yards of vintage sheets into 2" strips!

This image came about because I was watching bedsheets on a clothes line blowing in the wind. The sun was off to the side and was causing interesting shadows and defining textures on the sheet. The darker areas here are caused by those shadows. I duplicated the original layer and used a digital stylizer filter from Nik Software to give it the color and then used a Hard Light blending mode for this effect. Clearly I had plenty of time on my hands when I did this.
