this is rambutan, it's a fruit.

sweet and hairy.

idk whether this is true but

"rambut" in malay means hair

so therefore.. "rambutan" means hairy fruit! hahaha ;)

the colour changes from green, yellowish green, yellow, bright yellow, red, and bright red.. but it'll turn completely red and sweet in the middle of august..so sad.. i can't eat them.

i took them with me when i went to my "kampung"/village/countryside last week.

Here's the finished blue burst dress. Made from an Ikea bedsheet. Previous steps detailed here. It's about the 8th time I've made this particular, supersimple jumper dress. I'm always recreating this dress as a sort of uniform. I love wearing them and that they are a sort of blank canvas to have loads of fun with with color, pattern and texture. More uniforms here.

The silk scarf is from Dharma Trading and dyed baby blue. The shirt is a large men's button down linen shirt from the thrift store which I took off the collar and cuffs off. Also dyed that blue blue.

I was really pleased that I got to work with these very wonderful young women again.

I used todays changing of the bed sheet to quickly occupy the empty bed for a spot of rehearsing. It had been a while since I last had a theatre production on and I thought it was time to come up with a new one.

I wasn’t sure which play to choose and so I went into a deep meditation to see if I would get inspired. And indeed it worked, my surroundings were slowly disappearing until there was only me and the stage.

I suddenly had the vision of an old senate and I knew that Julius Caesar would be the play to perform.

I was just giving a very moving rendering of the “Friends, Romans, Countrysheep” speech from Marc Anthony when suddenly my concentration was rudely interrupted.

Henry and Pip had hopped onto the bed, each holding a pillow in their paws demanding some quiet as they wanted to take a nap.

I was about to protest but Henry and Pip or (since they effectively had disposed of my Julius Caesar) as they should probably better be called Henrius Cassius and Quintus Servillius Pipus had already fallen asleep.

Philistines...

I have been collecting lots of vintage sheets lately! I just love them. I need to start making things out of them! I may make a few really simple blankets out of some.

I made this shirt from a Simplicity pattern. I am not fond of sewing that kind of neckline. I don't think I will do this one again. I do love my new shirt. It feels so comfy to wear on these hot summer days in 2009 in South Florida. Plus it looks so fab. These colors are a feast for my eyes.
