As in other countries, in Japan there is a large community of enthusiastic beaders who love to create their own original jewellery – whether it is their own original designs or whether they take their cue from professional designers. Either way, beaders most often find inspiration and how-to instructions in specialized Japanese hobby magazines. The most popular beading magazine in Japan is Bead Friend. This year, Preciosa Ornela, together with its Japanese distributor, launched an extensive marketing campaign in Bead Friend. This seed beads jewellery is designed by famous Japanese designer Ms.Yoriko Sho (www.shoyoriko.com/). More about "Beading in Japan": preciosa-ornela.com/Beading-in-Japan

This was made as a practice job for tambour beading. I essentially bought myself a cheap shawl that had a bit of a pattern on it, grabbed a handful of random beads and practiced my tambour beading by following around the edge of the pattern.

This was just to practice the skill really and whilst it came out quite pretty, the weight of the glass and metal beads on a thin polyester shawl pulls down a little on the ends for my taste and therefore it sits in a cupboard.

Wearing a vintage dress adorned with beads patterned like powder-puff dandelions blowing in the wind. The old craftsmanship is starting to scatter, but hopefully it’ll shine on a little longer before pushing daisies. Such exquisite embellishment nonetheless forces me to temper my accessories: a two-fingered beribboned bow ring is akin to the sweetest brass knuckles for girls… Fashionshesays.com
