D12900. Babbacombe Beach at Torquay in South Devon is described on their website as 'the unspoilt jewel in the crown of the English Riviera’. It is an unspoilt cove below Babbacombe itself and reached by a 30% hill.
I'm told that that's quite steep, but I haven't got a clue what it means. If it said '1 in X', I would know whether it was steep or not!
Alternatively, there is a footpath from Oddicombe Beach which, apart from a few steps, is mostly on the level.

The Experience
My first oversea trip with my D7000 !! It was a fun 4D3N accompanied by the hard working sun , blueish sky , greenish tree and the aqua clear water !
1st day - tailor made shirt
2nd day - Full day island hopping
3rd day - Getting to high ground and places of interest in Phuket.
4th day - Flew back to Singapore
About Phuket .
Phuket, Thailand’s largest island is approximately the size of Singapore. It is around 1400km or 1.5 hours flight away from Singapore.

Patong Beach (Thai หาดป่าตอง) refers to the beach and town on Phuket's west coast. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket, and contains an important center of Phuket's nightlife and inexpensive shopping. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous hotels are located there and the area has expanded into a large tourist mecca.
Patong Beach is famous for its nightlife and 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) beach that runs the entire length of Patong’s western side. Nightlife is centered on two main areas Bangla Road and 'Paradise Complex', with Bangla Road being predominantly straight and Paradise Complex gay. Both roads are lined with many bars, discotheques and go go bars. Prostitution in Thailand is illegal but tolerated as is the case with Patong Beach, especially on Bangla Road where there are many older Western men drinking with young Thai women and transvestites. Most discos in Patong charge a 100 baht admission fee but rather than being a cover charge, this is actually a drink minimum since you get a voucher and most clubs charge 100 baht for almost all drinks.
On December 26, 2004, Patong Beach along with many other areas along the western coast of Phuket and Thailand were struck by a tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The wave caused a great deal of destruction to the waterfront of the beach and immediately inland and many people were killed. Patong was one of the worst affected areas of Phuket, although the destruction was not as bad as nearby Khao Lak. Patong has largely recovered since the tsunami.

...and we even find fire hydrants on the beach, well near the beach anyway. This is a 3 second exposure taken on a sunny day with my Holga 135PC pinhole camera on Kodak Portra 160.

This phenomenal black sand beach (apparently now being called Diamond Beach) is on the opposite side of the Ring Road from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Chunks of ice and small icebergs (which break off from the glacier Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet of Vatnajökull glacier) drift through the narrow channel between the lagoon and the Atlantic ocean and many wash onto the beach. Ice and black sand beaches are two of my favorite things, so I was in heaven here! I wish more than anything that I would've had more time here, and that I would've had enough time to shoot long exposure shots of the tide wrapping around the ice. Alas, I really wanted to get to my next guesthouse before it got too late to check in.
It's a dream! Most beautiful beach I've seen so far. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Australia.
