Sorry guys... I think that I misunderstood the main idea of the theme... I thought I had to mix both... half forest and half beach... ooopsss
This picture was taken at Berriedale Beach which is on the Scottish north east coast. The beach is a pebble beach.
Our Daily Challenge ... oasis.
The beach in the late afternoon ... my favourite peaceful place.
My apologies to everyone for my lack of comments recently. I haven't been all that well and now my computer has died. Thanks to those of you who have kept in touch with comments and faves. They are much appreciated.
I came home from the beach a bit blue :\ Wish I could go back already!
This is the Studio 57 Beach Blues action.
Just after 8:00 in the morning, on the day of the "weather bomb" in the Highlands. Walking Magnus's dog along the esplanade. The camera is balanced on the beach railings on a two second delay.
The camera was set on 100 iso to get maximum exposure, but that's all I had time for as it was blowing a gale, and the dog was not happy being out the in the wind and the rain.
Pretty happy with the result though, except the lights of Scrabster Harbour are far too intrusive.
Some of you will have seen this beach before as I shoot it every time we go to California. It is in Encinitas California a few blocks from where my parents retired. The tall palm tree was about 5 feet tall in 1974 when we first took my oldest daughter to this beach.
No improvement in my eye. The Dr. says the swelling should go down over the weekend. I was hoping for some improvement today but it seems like I'll have to wait another day. Very frustrating. My granddaughters birthday party is this afternoon and I will have to ask someone else to take the pictures. That has never happened before.
Again driving along the West Coast of Sardinia and visiting new places. This is the famous Is Aruttas beach on the Sinis peninsula. The most remarkable feature of this beach is that it is made of nearly spheric grains of quartz of 1 to 3 mm diameter. Really nice and an endangered place as many idiots use to carry this coarse sand away after visiting the place. A beach is not a quarry and you don't need any sand at home, even if you own an aquarium like mine, where this sand woul be perfect. Though I feel the right place for sand is on the beach.
One more thing: the remains of Posidonia oceanica are not waste, they are part of the ecosystem of the beach. I am sorry for those who believe beaches are always snow white, but this is the way Nature makes things, and the way I like them to be.
God, Nabokov. I started this cursed book in Parc Monceau over a bottle of red wine with Lil, and Humbert Humbert lasted me all the way into Morocco. It wasn't exactly a pleasant experience, but now that some time has passed, I think I can say I'm glad I read it. Following it up with Delillo, another unpleasant/enlightening book, was an ill-informed decision, though.
Lil, remember that roundabout I took us on in our effort to find this beach?
déja vu, a second look at my summer abroad last year. this batch: travels across continents with lily. next up: morocco, a visitor, and a smidge more Barcelonan glory.
