You can take the girl out of the Beach, but you can't take the beach out of the girl!

This beach at Carrapateira on Portugal's Algarve coast is known as Praia da Bordeira and noted for its rugged limestone cliffs and extensive sand dunes that spread inland to Carrapateira village.

Three glorious kilometres of uninterrupted sand. Sitting on the mouth of the Ribeira da Bordeira, it’s an exposed (sometimes windy) place, but has good waves, popular with surfers. The surrounding cliffs are popular among foolhardy fishermen who teeter hundreds of meters above the ocean to hook their lunch.

Things will be a little unsteady here for two weeks. I don't know to what extent I will be able to nurture my FlickR addiction. I might not be able to post new images or to comment on yours. I might be able to comment but not to post myself. I might post my images but not comment on yours... or at least as much as I used to. Who knows?

But whatever happens in the next two weeks, one thing is certain: Things will go back to normal after that.

Enjoy!

It's the middle of the afternoon and the beach at Barry Island is almost totally deserted. Quite spooky!

See video: Myrtos Beach

Myrtos Beach (Παραλία Μύρτου) is situated in the region of Pylaros, in the north-west of Kefalonia, Greece. The beach is situated between the feet of two mountains, Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros (901m) . Myrtos is world-famous for the magical colours of the water (from sky-blue to dark blue, green-blue and turquoise) contrasting with the bright white of the smooth marble pebbles from which it is formed.

In the evening when the sun is on the horizon, the water is tinted by magnificent colours, (red, yellow, purple, orange), as the sun disappears. The location of the beach, with steep mountains and tall cliffs behind, is imposing and magical.

Last summer I worked in a beach bar near Ostend.

Every morning a select few enjoy the sunrise before the crowds arrive. This morning the Kona weather provided calm, reflective seas. 248/365
