O microcraquelado, resultado da utilização de cubos de gelo na finalização do trabalho, é mais uma das belas características dessa técnica milenar.

A red sarong in the clothes line. It’s all waterlogged after the heavy rain. Batik has been both an art and a craft for centuries and its commonly used with clothing in Sri Lanka.It's almost impossible to repeat the same design.

it's been a long time since i'd last shoot her.
I came up with the idea of doing a photoshoot
based on the malay culture and tradition.
So here it is.

Claudine calls this faux batik, and I can see that the method isn't quite the original one, since it's done with paint and foam stamps, but it's a resist and it's on fabric (canvas, to be exact) and isn't that what makes it batik? Well, whatever, it's awfully cute.

Box pouch, made from assorted batiks. While I generally don't like batiks, I really like the design on this one. I love the geometric pattern, along with the streaks of teal, yellow, orange and pink. I used a navy blue zipper that goes well with the navy blue base of the fabric.
I was lucky to find this patch of garden at a park that nicely matches the bag's colour scheme. We have about a month before the flowers will start to fade.
On this box pouch I experimented with the dimensions. I didn't precut the sides, but instead cut them out after I did the end seams. It lets me be more flexible about the final dimensions, without having to do all the math beforehand.

This kind of traditional craft is considered as woman work from generation to generation. Industrial area of this craft industry is located in Sumbergedong district, Trenggalek, covering 1,362 units of commercial, by the total production capacity of 794,804 m. Its particularity is well known up to outside of Java.
As we recognize, Batik is Indonesia particular cloth which represent everything, history, fashion, women, and Indonesia itself.
Some regency, even some island have their own motive on Batik with its philosophy inside. Trenggalek also has particular motive of Batik with the same charm like any other motive from other area.

The inspiration for the quilt was from Kaffe Fassett book Kaliedoscope Quilts. It is my take on the Tapestry Garden Quilt and totally done in Hoffman Batik's. Beautifully quilted by the lovely Janelle at Sister's Fabrics in Chehalis, Wa.

I'm going to try another of the Circle of Diamonds tops, this time in batiks. I want this one to be very blendy, so I've chosen some fabrics that change in color and I'm also using a few different fabrics I within a few of the rounds. We'll see how it works :)
