Batik work starts here. A worker dips a stamp into hot beeswax, then repeatedly presses this stamp on a clean piece of cotton.

Batik sarongs hang side by side in the markets. These are very Indonesian patterns. I don't like them but people do love the busy look.
Nikka wears the top half of our Batik-inspired two-piece, with beaded detailing at the shoulders with a unique gold pattern against a cool blue. Can be worn open, tucked in or wrapped around and tied -- the possibilities are endless!

The sky turned amazing colours as we travelled down the motoway. I couldn't resist taking multiple shots and, although none were clear, quite liked the batik- like effect of this one. Colours adjusted in Levels (Picnik).

I Love Batiks. This was a fun quilt to put together.
Was glad to get this one finished---had thread problems all the way through on this one. First I changed my needle since I hadn't done that in quite a few quilts. When that didn't help, I finally broke down and called A-1 for advice. They told me to loosen both upper & lower tension, but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference, so I just kept on quilting. I think the thread breaking was caused more by the fabrics in this quilt---all the batiks & the (cheap & unwashed) stiff backing fabric from Hobby Lobby.

One of my first attempts at batik. I'm not especially good at drawing or painting, so it was kind of a surprise to see that these came out halfway decent. I think it's mostly the vibrant color that carries these. The whole process is really fascinating.

Gambar batik di atas diambil pada 16 Oktober 2017 di Muzium Kraftangan, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Istilah batik berasal daripada bahasa Indonesia Melayu yang membawa maksud 'titik'. Ini merujuk kepada teknik menggunakan lilin yang menghalang kain dari meresap warna dalam proses pewarnaan kain. Teknik ini dikesan pada awal abad yang digunakan di Afrika, Timur Tengah, India, Sri Lanka, China, Jepun, Indonesia dan seterusnya ke Malaysia. Bukti menunjukkan pembuatan batik bermula di Semenanjung Pantai Timur iaitu di Kelantan dan Terengganu di awal 1930-an di mana corak dan teknik dipengaruhi oleh orang Jawa. Terdapat dua jenis cara penghasilan batik di Malaysia iaitu teknik lukisan dan juga cetakan. Batik di Malaysia pada masa kini kebanyakannya telah menghasilkan corak baru yang lebih moden. Batik Malaysia telah berjaya menembusi pasaran antarabangsa.
Batik is a process of painting with hot wax onto cloth & then dipping it into dye baths layer after layer for each color and then the wax is boiled out! The cool effects come from cracked wax & dyes.
