A sleepy Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) opens an eye to check his surroundings. It almost looks as if the bird is embarrassed that he got caught napping!

Why does it seem that some of the prettiest flowers always hang out on the lowest branches of the bush? This gardenia, shot at Honors Park in South Daytona, FL, was not just beautiful, but beautifully fragrant as well! They are a delight in the Spring!

Pelicans weren't the only birds on the water that morning but it sure did seem like it for awhile. This drowsy Brown Pelican grudgingly greets the day on Horsepen Bayou.
