In spring season Mt. Everest Base Camp becomes like a makeshift colorful market of climbers and their associates. Base camp is based on top of active Khumbu Glacier.
A research paper published in the Nature in 2023 suggests that glaciers may melt even faster than expected, potentially contributing to sea-level rise at a quicker rate than previously thought. Another study, published in Nature Climate Change in 2020, analyzed more than 250,000 satellite images, revealing a rapid growth of glacial lakes around the world over the last three decades, indicating the impact of increased meltwater draining from melting glaciers.
Nepal's government has considered moving the Everest Base Camp as the glacier on which it currently sits is thinning. But they've received pushback from many Sherpas who work there, according to a BBC report.

Veterans from the U.S. Armed Forces and Canadian Forces gathered for a Veterans Day Ceremony at the Alaska National Guard armory on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Nov. 11, to honor those who have served their nation. Afterward, the Canadian Forces then conducted a Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion (1944)

The title of this work refers to figures that are often featured in Christian paintings of the death of Jesus. Bacon said the figures in his work represented the Furies, ancient Greek goddesses. They punished human wrongdoing. The work was first shown publicly in April 1945. The Second World War was in its final months, after six years of conflict. The first photographs and film footage of Nazi concentration camps were being released. For some, Bacon’s painting reflected the horror of the Holocaust, in which six million Jewish people were murdered. It was also seen to reflect the fear caused by the development of nuclear weapons.
