Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall and the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) hosted a spouse meet and greet at the Caisson Platoon’s stables at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Aug. 25. The meet and greet was a special event organized by Army Community Services in an effort to get military families recently stationed in the D.C. Metro area a chance to meet other military families. In spring season Mt. Everest Base Camp becomes like a makeshift colorful market of climbers and their associates. Base camp is based on top of active Khumbu Glacier.
A research paper published in the Nature in 2023 suggests that glaciers may melt even faster than expected, potentially contributing to sea-level rise at a quicker rate than previously thought. Another study, published in Nature Climate Change in 2020, analyzed more than 250,000 satellite images, revealing a rapid growth of glacial lakes around the world over the last three decades, indicating the impact of increased meltwater draining from melting glaciers.
Nepal's government has considered moving the Everest Base Camp as the glacier on which it currently sits is thinning. But they've received pushback from many Sherpas who work there, according to a BBC report.
