Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall fire fighters hosted children and their families during the fire department's annual Open House Oct. 10 on the Fort Myer Portion of JBM-HH. Firefighters allowed children to try on firefighting equipment, board fire trucks, and even learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher. The Great Barn, built in the 1530s. Just across the lane from the site of Basing House. During the siege of the house during the Civil War there was intense fighting in and around the barn - an odd thought for a space that's now hired out for wedding receptions and other events.

A work crew from MRM Construction repairs a huge sink hole Aug. 5, 2010 at the base of the Chula Vista Spillway, which is located in a completed portion of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District flood control project.
