PB Dragon is the site of a half finished Iraqi power generation plant. The russians were building it and abandoned it when the war kicked off. It was very kewl to stay overnight in the large tower and wake-up to the sight of the Euphrates .

Senior leaders from state government and the Virginia National Guard join family members, friends and fellow Soldiers in bidding farewell to the members of two Sandston-based aviation units May 27, 2016, in Sandston, Virginia, at a ceremony to mark the upcoming start of federal active duty. Approximately 40 Soldiers each assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, and Detachment 2, Company B, 777th Aviation Support Battalion, are scheduled to begin serving on federal active duty in early June 2016. The then-new Cairns District Hospital, designed in the style of Queen Anne architecture, opened just over 100 years ago in 1912. Locals ran art unions to raise funds to help build it.
The redevelopment of Cairns Base Hospital will provide an additional 168 beds by 2015, bringing the total to 531 beds.
The redeveloped has also provided improved health services including an ambulatory cancer care centre with a new radiation oncology service, additional cardiac care facilities, additional surgical capacity including day surgery, expanded intensive care capacity, expanded birthing services, special care babies unit and a new low risk birth centre, extra aged care and rehabilitation services, more beds for mental health services and new pathology facilities. This was taken along a sectin of lower base line that descends into a small valley. I was trying to capture an image that would provide a range of tones in bw, but that also had some interest. I liked the cloud direction and shape, and also the slight undulation in the hill and trees in the background.

Pho & Bun, based on Shaftesbury Avenue, is the brainchild of 28 year old restauranteur Chef Andy Le. Andy is owner of Viet Eat in Holborn, which has seems to have been making waves in the last two years - Pho & Bun is his ânew thingâ, and will take some of the most popular items from Viet Eatâs menu, plus a few additions (itâs a âminimisedâ 20 item menu). All the chairs, tables and crockery are handmade in Vietnam, and the walls are covered in a combination of what may or may not be âVietnam inspired indoor street artâ. Itâs pretty stripped down and unpretentious, setting the scene for the street food that they do so well. The restaurant has 80 covers on the ground floor and basement, and is open everyday from 12:00 am to 11:00 pm. Considering the Soho location, pre/post theatre perhaps?
As Andy describes it, the supposed premise behind Vietnamese food is that itâs "less oily than Chinese food, less spicy than Thai food and less heavy than Indian food.â. I guess this is arguable, but Iâve always found it to be honest, hearty cuisine, and they are right - it IS less oily than a lot of mainstream Asian cuisine (with the exception of Japanese, perhaps?).
Anyway, Pho & Bun are focusing on Hanoi street food. Mainly (as you can imagine) Pho - which is a type ofâ¦wholesome noodle stew, and Bun - which is actually a play on words. The first meaning: the âBaoâ bun, a type of milky bun thatâs made from a combination of steamed rice flour and milk (we will return to this later...). The second is the Vietnamese word âBunâ - which is their word for vermicelli noodles (thinner than âregularâ noodles...)
And no, I canât say Iâve tried any of their vermicelli but holy shit the Bao/bun burger hybrid is truly quite something (see pictures: itâs the little white burger impaled by Vietnamese flag). 28 day dry aged beef patty coexisting alongside an extremely generous of Viet Eatâs signature smoky mayo sauce and a maelstrom of herbs and fresh salad, encased in the signature pale hirata bun. The Vietnamese have truly made the burger their own...
Andyâs original plan was to raise £35,000 on Kickstarter for the launch. I donât think they managed to get the entire figure, but, as you can see, it sure didnât stop them launching! I also got to try Bia Saigon / Saigon Beer - which is a lager from Ho Chi Minh City. I guess it had never crossed my mind that the Vietnamese would be into brewing as much as some of their neighbours...

JOINT BASE MYER-HENDERSON HALL (April 30, 2014) -- The Nation's Capital Region may have been deluged under heavy rain storms, but for more than a thousand audience members at this year's opening performance of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington's (MDW) Twilight Tattoo, it was all about enjoying the military spectacle.
Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long, live-action military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." Audience members from around the world experience a glimpse into American history through performances by the U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from the U.S. Army Band Downrange, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and the U.S. Army Drill Team.
"Beginning each spring and running all summer long until August, thousands of people watch our Soldiers tell the Army's story," said Jeremy Kern, MDW assistant marketing director. "Performances are usually outside, but if it rains like it did today, no worries, we just do it inside at Conmy Hall right here post."
Twilight Tattoo's opening performance was hosted by, Maj. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, MDW's commanding general. Buchanan used the first show of the season to recognize the partnership his command has with the USO of Metropolitan Washington. USO Metro board member, Bob Kaylor accepted a memento during the opening segment of the show.
Twilight Tattoo performances begin at 7 p.m. Pre-ceremony pageantry begins at 6:45 p.m. Performances from April 30 through June 25 will be located at Summerall Field at JBM-HH, Arlington, Va. Performances from July 9 through Aug. 20 will be located at Whipple Field, JBM-HH and of course if the weather is bad, it is held indoors at Conmy Hall on JBM-HH.

Life Is About Choices And The Decisions We Make Life is a journey. A journey based on decisions we make and choices based around those decisions. The journey consists of long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. Among the various roads we follow, we could find a road that leads to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. Then there is a road that leads to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. Moreover, there are roads to happiness or sadness, to victory and jubilation and roads leading to defeat and disappointment. In life there are corners, detours, and crossroads along the way. I think the most challenging one of all is the crossroad. You have four roads to choose from and if there was no clarity indicating where each road goes, which one will you take? How can we guarantee we choose the right one? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are? You need to make a choice, or you stay in the front of the crossroad and remain “stuck”. There Are No Guarantees For Any Of The Decisions We Make. You are in a place of uncertainty because you can’t know where an unsigned road will take you until you travel along it. There are no guarantees. Life is full of choices and you need to realize that we make good and bad choices. I don’t know anyone who has ever said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would lead to happiness. Consider these simple, yet true statements: Loving someone ultimately and completely does not guarantee that love will be returned. Achieving fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. There are too many possible outcomes in whatever path you choose that are not in your control. The one thing you do have power to control is the decisions that you make, and how you react to different situations. Bad Decisions We Make Are Always In Hindsight. Would you have gone along with something if you knew it was a bad decision? Of course not! Why would you choose to do something you knew would get you lost? Why would you decide on something if you knew from the start it’s not the right decision to make? It’s only after you have made your decision and thought it that you realize how sound it is. If you find the outcome is a good one for you, then you have made a good decision. If not, then you have made a bad decision. It may be the overall decision was a good one, but you chose to do one task a different way and it affected the outcome. Choices are like a “sub niche” of your overall decision. This is why it’s important to reflect and respond to your outcome in the right way. The Important Thing To Do Is Take The Risk: Decide On What You Want And Go For It! Because there is no guarantee and you’ll never know that you’ve made a bad decision until you make it, take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than staying stuck and unhappy. You may take a wrong turn along the way and get a little lost, but this is all part of the adventure and may even open more roads for you. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice of being a wayward traveller or an accidental tourist of life. Be careful not to make “haphazard” decisions. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are a few pointers to help you make better decisions and choices: Get as much information as you need about your situation. You can’t have the right information to decide if you know little about what you are faced with. Take what any news reported would do and thing of the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who is involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the questions to ask so you can find out more about your situation. This is very important. The reason for indecision very often a lack of good information. Identify and create options. What options do you have in your situation? Sometimes options are few, but sometimes they can be endless. What do you do if it appears that the situation has no obvious options? Then it’s time to create your own. Put your creative mind to work. Think about all ideas from the most simplistic to the most complicated, and see what comes up. Don’t disregard anything when an idea comes to mind. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could be the very one you need to pursue. If you’re struggling with this, you could ask a friend to help you come up with ideas and identify even more options. Remember that it’s you who must make the final choice. Weigh up the pros and cons of every option. It’s important to analyse each option. Look at the advantages and disadvantages that each particular option offers you. This will help you to make the right choice too. Trust yourself and make that decision.Having assessed all of the options, it’s now time to trust yourself. Remember there are no guarantees and bad decisions are made in hindsight. You have given yourself the best chance to make the right choice by doing all the checks and analysis with due diligence, so choose. Make your decision based on the belief you’re choosing the best option. You have done all you can to make the right choices and decided to go for it. Now you have to face the consequences, whether they are good or bad. You may be taken on a ride to a place of promise or maybe a land of problems, who knows. One thing for sure is you are in for a great ride. The important thing is that you’ve chosen to live your life and not remain a bystander or a passive audience to everything around you. The decisions we make can be good or bad, right or wrong, only time will tell what they will be. Don’t regret it, whatever the outcome. Learn from any experience and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.
