January 21, 2020 - This morning we had our first landing in Antarctica. I can now check off visiting all seven continents from my bucket list.
We visited Argentine Base Esperanza located in Trinity Peninsula. It is a inhabited year round by Argentine families. This base was founded in 1953 and holds the distinction of the birth of Emilio Palma on 7 January 1978. Emilio was the first person to be born in Antarctica.
We saw the historic stone hut where Andersson, Duse and Grunden from the 1903 Nordenskjold Swedish expedition lived. We also visited a small museum, chapel and the school house.
Wildlife seen: Adélie Penguins, Gentoo Penguins and Snowy Sheathbill. On our Zodiac ride back to the ship we saw a Leopard Seal.

After the 6 hour drive up from the Lake District, we pitched the tent and then went off in search of much needed sustenance!
The base of the tower of the old Baptist Church, Woodborough Road, St Anns, Nottingham, UK. Built by Watson Fothergill in 1894, the building is now a Pakistani Community Centre. See www.watsonfothergill.co.uk/building.htm.
The marble pedestal had bas-reliefs dating to the time of the obelisk's re-erection in Constantinople. On one face Theodosius I is shown offering the crown of victory to the winner in the chariot races, framed between arches and Corinthian columns, with happy spectators, musicians and dancers assisting in the ceremony. In the bottom right of this scene is the water organ of Ctesibius and on the left another instrument.

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Maj. Gen. L. Scott Rice, The Adjutant General, Massachusetts National Guard, addresses senior noncommissioned officers from around the commonwealth for a first sergeants symposium at the Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters, here, Feb. 10, 2014. Rice stressed the importance of the first sergeants role in the Air National Guard and answered questions concerning the future of the force. In the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Air Force Reserve and U.S. Air National Guard, the first sergeant position is not a rank but a "special duty designation" that can be held by a master sergeant, senior master sergeant or chief master sergeant. The mission of the first sergeant is to ensure the that the mission is being met, the Airmen and their needs are met (food, lodging, equipment and morale), Airmen are maintaining proper military discipline, mission essential supplies are on hand and acts as the unit commander’s advisor on enlisted issues or matters. This photo was taken during the ceiling and auditorium restoration project at the 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam, Washington. EverGreene Architectural Arts was the contractor for this project, and they have done an amazing job. The 7th Street Theatre was built in 1928 and is an atmospheric theatre built in the style of John Eberson.

Still intact Buildings 64 and 60 look imposing in the middle of the picture while around them are the foundations of other buildings from Lake Boga's time as a RAAF Flying Boat Repair base.
Microscopic views of natural structures and the cells of life forms such as plants excite me. Inside these objects I see naturally occurring shapes and forms that I come in contact with every day. These formations repeat on all scales of life from microscopic to life size and beyond. For example, the visual elements of an onion’s cell structure closely resemble a Red Maple tree’s bark. The organic oblong shapes of the onion’s cellular walls are visually similar to the vertical texture of the bark. In my paintings I investigate these multiple layers of natural forms, which reflect the changing scales of natural life simultaneously on one fractured plane.

The base of this one is cut from Lexee's old jeans... dark and kinda stretchy they totally work for these cuffs! I FOUND that button... LOVE it! The lace is from Lacey's in Berkeley and the daisies are from my friend Wabi as are the other PINK elements! The crocheted doilie is from a stash my friend Marion gave me!
