First out of the bullpen, er, I mean first up on the Slipper Room stage tonight, are Rita MenWeep and Penny Dreadfulz, both members of the Peach Tartes burlesque troupe.
Penny, above, is the Yankees part of our local baseball rivalry, and Rita is the Mets. They've got capacious cups and athletic supporters, stiff-legged swagger, million-dollar sneers, fanny-patting moves, and sparkly lingerie. Just, uh, just like the real thing. Wait a second.

"The Village"@ Sanlitun is almost complete, although with architecture which perhaps incorporates elements of Chinese garden design, insofar that views are "constructed" with enormous Nike, Adidas and Apple logos prominent on the horizon wherever you look, it could scarcely be more different from an actual Chinese village. The shady lanes of Sanlitun have long been a cool, alternative part of Beijing, for Chinese and foreigners alike, and while it's hard to deny that the new area is pretty funky architecturally, to call this new glorified shopping complex a "village" is taking the piss somewhat. Hopefully the remaining organically formed "urban village" of independent bars, restauraunts and clothing stores are allowed to continue as is and not replaced by corporate chain stores under the guise of progress.

Another great love of Savanah's is Hello Kitty. When she pulled the wrapping paper out she knew it was a hat, but when she saw the HK on it she got super excited.
This is the first time I've noticed hats for Chicagoland suburbs at a Walgreens. Chicago hats are everywhere, and I think the Hyde Park neighborhood had their own.
The old guy with the missing fingers hasn't improved or not improved now that he's gussied up. The bunny with the cool phone? Maybe he'll be part of a post modern Alice in Wonderland.
Truth be told, this photo is deceiving. It was taken at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. The man is actually walking up a paved path past a mound of golden grass. The white background that appears to be the sky is actually a white wall. By cropping, I was able to create the illusion that a father and his son were walking up to a wide open field.

So this is what I've been doing (and will continue to be doing) for several days - helping my friend remodel her kitchen. I think the paint fumes got to us as we decided to recreate our own version of "American Gothic". I pulled my hair up into a quick bun and stooped down and Jami grabbed a long roller and the nearest pair of glasses. I have plans to photoshop this in the near future.

My Tigers are in town tonight to play the Royals. Getting my shots out of the way now (and minus any messy makeup) so that we can go to the game and enjoy some beer, hotdogs and baseball. Hope everybody has a great Friday evening!

The set comes with a logo ballcap in a tiger stripe jungle camo pattern. It's rather large for this GAC Toys head, and will flop around a little too easily. That plus the logo makes the cap the only really questionable piece in the set.
My first baseball cap cake. I was really worried about getting the shape correct. I used 7 inch cakes and probably should have gone with the 8". My bill is gumpaste and it cracked on the side and down the middle, the reason for the blue stripe.
Overall I'm very happy with the results though.
