JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - (July 13, 2021) Liam Ponton, 18, of Indianapolis, took the oath of enlistment for service in America’s Navy at Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio headquarters. Administrating the oath was his grandfather, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Charles Cooper, of Springfield, Mo. Ponton, a 2021 graduate of Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas, will serve in the Advanced Electronics/Computer Field (AECF). “I’m joining the Navy to serve and continue the tradition of service in my family,” said Ponton. “I’m happy to be a part of something great.” According to Cooper, a 32-year-veteran, swearing in his grandson was of the utmost importance. “I believe it should always be a family member swearing in their loved one,” said Cooper, who also sworn in his son into the Air Force. The AECF offers extensive training in all aspects of electronics including computer systems, radar, communications systems, and weapons fire control systems such as the Navy's advanced Aegis radar and missile system. The standards for selection for enlistment in the Navy's AECF are competitive. Ponton was recruited by Electronics Technician (Nuclear) 1st Class Kevin Camitta, a talent scout assigned to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Mercado, Talent Acquisition Onboarding Center (TAOC) Alamo City. NTAG San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes two TAOCs which manage more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory. 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, their families and
distinguished guests gathered at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Thursday, Nov.
1, 2012, for a redeployment ceremony to formally welcome the brigade home from a
10-month deployment to Afghanistan's Paktya and Khowst provinces in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom XII-XIII. During the deployment eight of Task Force

The Albatross, built by Grumman, was introduced into service in 1949. The amphibian aircraft was in military service into the 1970s.
The aircraft in the photograph was built in 1951 and went into Air Force service before going to the U. S. Coast Guard. In 2011, the aircraft was on display at Travis Air Force Base.
