Experiment with perspective.
Update: Whoa, check out this photo in Large and Original for all the details. I missed a lot of the nuance and just focused on the tunnel in the middle, but Ted opened my eyes to some of the more interesting background detail.
This is a shot from my photoshoot with Bart Rochon a few weeks back. He selected this as one of the ones he liked and wanted processed. Click on the image to see it against black (looks best that way).
This shot is nearly straight from the camera. The only adjustments here are the fill light and cropping it in tighter, plus a pass of sharpening and some minor blemish correction. I also emphasized the light in Bart's eyes (always amazed how that changes the way someone looks). No tonal or tint changes - this is the colour as it appeared that night.
Should also mention, this was shot with the 55mm portrait lens. I'm loving this lens - it's so sharp and it really focuses the eye on the figure thanks to the background blurring it does with the limited DoF. Great lens!
