28 July 2008, Hay Point (Queensland): "Barrier Reef gone" reads another message painted on the side of a coal export ship at Hay Point port. Federal government advisor Professor Ross Garnaut recently reported on the likely collapse of the reef as a result of climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions from dirty technology such as coal.

Part of our excursion to the Great Barrier Reef was a dive in a submersible ... because of recent typhoons, the water was all churned up and sandy, and not as crystal clear as it usually is ... but it was still an amazing sight!

The barrier was open during the day but down at night when residents could use a fob to open it. It had stopped residents from being harassed by those driving cars at speed in the early hours of the morning.
Holding those crush barriers together so they don't go walkies.
They would all be thrown over the cliff if they weren't chained up. Our town is one of the stag/hen party capitals of the South, I'm afraid.
I still don't understand why being off your face on drink and/or drugs is an acceptable excuse for anti-social behaviour.

Ha Ha barrier - this is a type of fence which uses a liner depression in the ground so that from a distance nothing blocks the sight line. In country areas this is a good way to keep cattle from invading the garden and eating the flowers.
