Our Daily Challenge 28th July - 3rd August:: Barrier or Barricade.
An entrance to a new build in my road.
Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. My first attempt at underwater photography. I borrowed a Canon Rebel with an underwater housing and shot only in jpeg, so the image quality is not what I'd like it to be, but the experience was a heckuva lot of fun nevertheless.
Barton Barriers is a temporary work of conceptual art by Stephen Dubov. It was installed on March 13, 2010, on an overgrown public right-of-way along Barton Skyway in Austin's Barton Hills neighborhood. The sculpture consists of over 50 Yodocks and is about 100 feet long and up to 12 feet tall. It has created quite a stir among residents. It will be taken down on June 12.
Or Thames Barrier Reef as my mum calls it.
Not the sharpest image due to the movement of the boat I was on.

Dried up creek.
From Peterborough we headed along the Barrier Highway to the NSW Border and the old Mining Town of Broken Hill. It is a long drive and a fairly featureless road, but this is what we saw.
OK, day out having a wander today, decided to post a few abstracts, any ideas? All will be revealed in a few days!!!
OK....these are piled up Mills Barriers, the barriers used to block off roads, pavements etc. Being erected along the River Clyde before the weekends River Festival.
The Thames Barrier spans 520 metres across the River Thames near Woolwich, and it protects 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding caused by tidal surges. It has 10 steel gates that can be raised into position across the River Thames. When raised, the main gates stand as high as a 5-storey building and as wide as the opening of Tower Bridge. Each main gate weighs 3,300 tonnes.
Concrete and chain link jersey barrier base barriers from the Big Dig or Green Line tunnel extension. Proof of origin follows. I'm glad to see materials reused.
And I'm building a small collection of landscapes with stop sign.
