Concrete and chain link jersey barrier base barriers from the Big Dig or Green Line tunnel extension. Proof of origin follows. I'm glad to see materials reused.

And I'm building a small collection of landscapes with stop sign.

We continued along the final stretch of the Barrier Hwy from Cober to Nyngan where we turned onto the Mitchell Highway towards Parkes.

Brian and the Road.

From Peterborough we headed along the Barrier Highway to the NSW Border and the old Mining Town of Broken Hill. It is a long drive and a fairly featureless road, but this is what we saw.

Barton Barriers is a temporary work of conceptual art by Stephen Dubov. It was installed on March 13, 2010, on an overgrown public right-of-way along Barton Skyway in Austin's Barton Hills neighborhood. The sculpture consists of over 50 Yodocks and is about 100 feet long and up to 12 feet tall. It has created quite a stir among residents. It will be taken down on June 12.

The Thames Barrier is a flood control structure on the River Thames at Woolwich Reach in London. It is the world's second largest movable flood barrier after the Oosterscheldekering in the Netherlands.

River Thames Flood Barrier

The gate in the middle of this view has been raised to the underspill position and a maintenance barge is in attendance.Built across a 523 metre wide stretch of the river the barrier divides the river into six channels between nine large concrete piers. The flood gates across the openings are radial, i.e., half-cylindrical, and they operate by rotating, raised by hydraulics out of a horizontal sill below the water to form the barrier. They can rotate further to allow for 'underspill' for maintenance. All the gates are made of steel. The four large central gates are 61 metres long, 10.5 metres high (above local ground level) and weigh 1,500 tonnes; the outer two gates are 31.5 metres. Additionally, four radial gates by the riverbanks can be lowered. These gate openings, unlike the main six, are non-navigable.

St. Simons Island is a barrier island located in Glynn County, Georgia, United States. St. Simons is part of the Brunswick metropolitan statistical area, and according to the 2020 U.S. census, the CDP had a population of 14,982. Located on the southeast Georgia coast, midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, St. Simons Island is both a seaside resort and residential community. It is the largest of Georgia's renowned Golden Isles (along with Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and privately owned Little St. Simons Island). Visitors are drawn to the Island for its warm climate, beaches, variety of outdoor activities, shops and restaurants, historical sites, and natural environment.

In addition to its base of permanent residents, the island enjoys an influx of visitors and part-time residents throughout the year. The vast majority of commercial and residential development is located on the southern half of the island. Much of the northern half remains marsh or woodland. A large tract of land in the northeast has been converted to a nature preserve containing trails, historical ruins, and an undisturbed maritime forest. The tract, Cannon's Point Preserve, is open to the public on specified days and hours.[10]
