The dual sleeping bag arrangement icon at the right caught my eye when the first Lafuma X650 Pro bag arrived. Suddenly I understood why they were marked "left zip" and "right zip", and immediately ordered a mate. This design is so much better than our big zero degree Coleman Exponent bags - they are mummy style, but they don't mate because although we can zip them together, there's always a mummy hood over someone's face.
These are relatively lightweight 40 degree bags, which should be good for summer backpacking and could probably go a little earlier and later with a good silk lining added in.
Amy Butler Cosmo bag, made from a pattern using Amy Butler fabrics. Sized as an overnight bag - it has two pockets on the sides, and four pockets in the interior. Very roomy and stylish - though time-consuming to put together.

The denim bag measures at 37cm wide by 40cm tall, with straps. There is one large main compartment and a inner pocket with a magnet. A great bag for carrying your sport shoos, school books or anything you need for a day at the beach.

I had the privilege of being a tester for Sara in making the Tudor Bag. I really loved making this bag and I feel it turned out really nice. At first, I wasn't going to add the zipper pocket on the front but I wanted to follow the pattern and really challenge myself with the zipper placket. I didn't think it would turn out good (don't know why I thought that) but I'm so glad I did it because it turned out great.
The only modification I made was adding a strip of accent fabric on the gusset for the shoulder strap d-ring. My stitching isn't really good around small pieces like that so I wanted to anchor it a different way.
Of course I can't make a bag w/o rivets so I added those for additional security in case my stitching unravels from the weight on the handles (don't know why I think it would unravel) but I will be using this bag for work so I wanted to make sure the straps would hold...(this was for my sanity).
Other than that I kept to the pattern! The instructions were very well written and detailed (but why would they not be, right Sara?) ha ha
I love zipper panels so I chose that option when making the bag. Everything came together nicely and was a pretty quick project for me.
Love the nickel labels and zipper pull from Emmalinebags that helps give it a more professional look and feel. The purse feet added a nice touch as well. I only wish I had a white zipper with nickel teeth in my stash to use on the front of the bag to match the rest of the nickel but oh well...
For the fabric, I used a 100% cotton medium weight fabric from Ikea called ÄLGÖRT found here: www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30227262/ and denim from Joann that I had on hand. I couldn't really find anything to go with the main fabric so I used denim as the accent pieces and the interior. It is a nice medium weight and worked well through the project.
As I mentioned, this bag was fun to make and I can definitely see myself making more of these.
I patchworked my favourite vintage fabrics and vintage embroidered pieces and added some pretty leatherette handles.

This was my winning entry to Christopher Baldacci's Great Lord of the Rings Contest on MOCpages in October 2011. I'm a little surprised that there aren't any other Lord of the Rings creations in miniland scale yet (that I know of). Hopefully this will inspire you to make some of your own! I chose the scene from The Fellowship of the Ring movie where Bilbo and Gandalf are sitting outside Bag End, smoking their pipes and enjoying each other's company for the first time in a long while.
Yet another bag! I was not going to buy another bag, but the fabric is so pretty I could not turn my head away and pretend that I did not see it. The price is very attractive so I convinced myself to get it. :-)

How I organize all of my BA! Bags inside of bags inside of bags! I divide the mini bags into sections for rifles, helmets, BAP's, etc.
I am really tired of carrying around my messenger bag up town with my camera gear. I want something that has the look of a designer handbag with the function to carry my gear. I have been eying the stunning Epiphanie bags online for the last little while, but, realistically, I can't justify the expense.
On a recent shopping trip into Burlington, Washington, I made it my mission to find a purse that I love big enough to put my Tenba insert into and use as a cambag.
TADAAAAAA! Enter this absolute SCORE at the Lane Bryant outlet store in Bellingham. It exactly fits the insert lengthwise, but has enough height to accomodate my D700 with the grip and a 70-200 lens attached, with extra room. It's beautiful, I love, love, love it {it has leopard print inside!!}, it looks good on, it's super comfy and I can easily clip on a cross body strap for long days if I need to.
Best of all, it only cost me $50.
Did I mention that I love it?? :)

A somewhat crazy and unplanned page - expressing a certain restlessness tonight. I am missing sketching a LOT and need to get a few things in my normal life into balance. I think the mammoth scanning task is a bit of a burden - I know there is no rush to get it all done but I am a bit uneasy till I have a digital record of the originals. Think of how much MORE sketching I would produce if I didn't have this scanning time to schedule in... but then that would generate more scanning...it is a neverending cycle. Maybe I should just start knitting again (after all the cricket season has started!) BTW I haven't actually scanned or posted most of my daily sketchbook pages since I got home!
I might try to work my away around the colour wheel to find some different objects to sketch... so I just might do something orange next... is that an excuse to visit T2 tomorrow or buy another orange box of tea? - no Liz no!
BTW the little fellow is another one of Borromini's friends - silly magnet animal with no body. Purchased a few years ago at Timbertown in Wauchope NSW Australia. The yellow bag is nearly 20 years old - cant be that old...well lets say over 10 years old!
I made this bag from strip pieced bright colours with some very dark brown stripes. I sewed the fabric to a vintage plastic handle that I bought from an antique shop.
This photo shows the lining - a Kaffe Fasset fabric - one of my favourites.
