After adding ground cover and a few flowers and a lamp post, there's a totally different 'feel' to this backyard. NOte that the patio now looks like a nice place to sit as opposed to a stark slab of concrete with no landscape plants around it as in the original yard.
I hated the last staining job that was done on the deck about 5 years ago and can hardly wait to have the money to redo the deck completely.
Nailed up to the branch on the Boysenberry. When the fruit ripens and ferments the racoons who live in the trunk get all drunk, climb on the swing and scream at each other.
it is sad that they are in my yard and i had no idea what they were. but they are really pretty every year.
This is the area to the right of the pond. I have a night shot of this area in the photostream somewhere. It has been pretty hot but everything seems to be holding up fairly well. The Brugmansia is struggling, it's trying to work on another batch of flowers.
The Red-tailed Hawk has been visiting my neighborhood now for a while and making the squirrels nervous. The Hawk often sleeps under the stars at night in a fan palm that I can view from my backyard porch along with the planes landing at LAX in the background. This is a view from my backyard in Inglewood, California which is an urban neighborhood with many apartments and scattered older homes.
