The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago presented a program on Water Safety to the kindergarten classes at Prairie Crossing Charter School in Grayslake, IL, on May 6, 2009. The interactive program includes instruction on various elements of safety around water, whether swimming or playing around the ocean, lakes or backyard pools and features the program's mascot, Longfellow the Whale. The program is available to schools in the Chicagoland region and is part of the Red Cross's education and enlightenment efforts in promoting family safety through preparedness. I think I've got the right name for this fellow on the wires in my backyard. He waited just long enough for me to run for the camera and try for the zoom shot. It's a pretty mundane bird photo, but the large size does capture his expression and enough detail to make it interesting for me.
too busy today to take a bokeh shot; but have so many unedited photos from last month....
Lo and I are together for turkey day- everyone else has gone north.... my sisters mother-in-law has been gracious enough to have us for turkey dinner.... YUM. it's my favorite holiday of the year. It's about being thankful and eating 'til you pass out. pretty amazing!
