Our neighbors had an impromptu get together last night so we went over for a bit (and of course I took a few photos).
Just a gathering with friends and family. This poker night was filled with smiles as the stakes got high.
I think I've got the right name for this fellow on the wires in my backyard. He waited just long enough for me to run for the camera and try for the zoom shot. It's a pretty mundane bird photo, but the large size does capture his expression and enough detail to make it interesting for me.

This is the place where all the magic happened just a year ago: A guy named Árni Rúnar had the idea of gathering a few bands together in his backyard to do some live recording. He filled his little shack of a studio with equipment and prayed for good weather. He invited all of his neighbours and made them pizza, cupcakes and pancakes. And then many of the most exciting Icelandic musicians of their generation showed up to play. This entire process has been captured on tape and turned into the great film Backyard. This movie is my favorite of 2010 :)

We just found out we are moving to the Mobile, AL area. I cant believe I am leaving this yard / garden. I have spent the last four years transforming it into a bird and butterfly garden. I practically started over after Ivan.
We never really thought we would leave this house! I am going to really miss this neighborhood and our wonderful neighbors.
I am excited about finding something new and I know it will be wonderful, but I cant help but look at my yard and sigh. I hope the new owner likes plants!
Took this while I was working on my Word to Image photo assignment last year. Just fooling around in the dark room
