We had a backyard visitor on the weekend. The chickadees and nuthatches made quite a fuss initially but then settled down. I believe the diet of the owl consists of rabbits and crows , in that case I wish they would stay and build a nest.
We've been having a lot of Rainbows recently with autumn showers and weather so I managed to catch one of them the other day.
I have many birds visit my backyard feeders, but I was quite surprised to see this hawk perched on my fence when I looked out my back window last spring. Wilmington NC

I decided to upload this because it has no blue tones in it :D
Thank you all so much for your nice comments about Lotta, I can't thank you enough for how supportive you are. Lotta is definitely feeling better but we are still waiting for the results of the medical check.
I hope you a lovely Easter! :)
I got inspired to do this as a self portrait. Initially, my friend and photographer Adam Ghahate told me my outfit resembles Laura Croft from Tomb Raider. So, I decided to play on it and convey a young girl lurking in the shadows, raiding cars and apartments. In the back of my apartment complex, I wanted to produce an image showing myself "getting caught" as this backyard raider. I portrayed this character by wearing a grungier outfit and my leather jacket. I wanted something different composition wise; I decided to shoot from the ground and foreshorten my foot to my body.
Image Specs: Shot with the Canon 6d and the 24-105mmL lens. Lighting was achieved with recycled film flashes. A soft box was feathered at an angle to my face and a shoot through umbrella for fill light. I dragged the shutter to get my ambient light in the background.
Post Processing: Editing achieved with Lightroom 5.2, Exposure 5, and Photoshop CS6 .

We do a daily walk in the backyard to check things over and Shizandra always leads the way and keeps an eye on Mom too.
I haven't had much time lately to take pics and the few I took are not the best quality. But here is a little collage of some visitors in my new backyard.
Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas! I wish everybody all the best and tones of wonderful pictures for the New Year!
