Once a common sight in my backyard, the deer have been gone for nearly two years now - until just recently when I saw this out my living room window.
I don't have to take a trip around the world or be on a yacht in the Mediterranean to have happiness. I can find it in the little things, like looking out into my backyard and seeing deer in the fields.

My wife snapped this one this morning - loving our new backyard!
As the sun starts to go down, a bunny comes out in my daughter's backyard. Taken thru a window with setting sunlight shining on the rabbit.

Another shot of a backyard I'm using for photography. This time I used Canon PowerShotG12 in HDR mode with choice of B&W color.
YES!!!!! I had a Calliope Hummingbird show up in my yard yesterday!!! OMG, I could not believe it.
After a long day out birding, I went outside to fill the bird baths. On the way back in the house, I briefly saw a small hummer at the feeder that said Calliope. I thought it was wishful thinking but ran in to grab my camera.
Sure enough, this beautiful male showed back up for a few visits. I didn't stay outside long so he could relax and enjoy the feeders!!!

A native ipê-amarelo-do-cerrado (Handroanthus ochraceus) shows off its yellow blossoms in my former backyard. All these trees were either planted or saved in their native state by me thirty years ago.
During the non-winter months we will have an occasional visit by a deer. Generally this occurs at night, but occasionally during the daytime. They eat the greenery in the yard behind the shop building...and top whatever plants are growing.
In winter, we have almost nightly visits by between five and eight, including two antlered bucks. They come regularly because we put out large amounts of birdseed for them, which they love.
We are NOT adjacent to any wooded area, so they have to travel some distance, crossing roads and moving through residential areas to get to us. Doesn't seem to be a problem for them.
