Assignment: Backlighting

One thing I enjoy very much about backlighting is the bokeh! I am a bokeh-holic, I admit.

I like this photo, but would love to do the same one in the fall when those little berries have turned purple. As it is, I think it is a little bland.

PCA 61 Backlighting

Assignment: Create an image where

the light behind is the main subject, but

not a silhouette.

WIT: Went out at sunset and found this

beautifully back lit tree as a bonus the

lighting made everything glow. I see there are a few distractions when viewed large and it is a little centered.

Aperture priority F8, tri-pod, -1/3 exposure.

While this species is native along the coast as far north as SLO Co., these were planted and are thriving. The backlighting caught me. And thanks to Mike for reminding me of the name of this part of a composite inflorescence.

Always him, the same model that is in my photos. This is a backlight. I think it's spectacular, what do you think?

Check out performance of a LED strip. It should be very reliable backlight.

Le hice una modificación a mi vivitar 285hv para poder controlar por pasos de 0,5 hasta -5,5 stops mediante un interruptor giratorio.

Ésta es una de las pruebas que hice.

I did a mod in my vivitar 285hv in order to obtain 8 stops on 0.5 steps.

Testing at home I took this picture.

This is sooc...except I hate the way Flickr sucks color!! This is sRGB.

Found this GREAT lighting in my house today...a window behind him and to his left. The perfect fill/backlight combo. I wish he was a girl with long hair here to catch the light better though, haha.

I tried to get my other brother to pose here, but he refused and only made faces...unfortunately.

{Special Weekend Shot}

So Sorry Im late. I never been so late to post the {Special Weekend Shot}!

I've been at a wedding, and where I was, there was no internet.

Anyway, this is my little sister. She has been asking me over and over if she can be my model. Finally at the sunset, I accepted. Not that I don't want to (she is awesome!) but I have a lot of shots of her on the stream.

Other good news! I was in the paper yesterday!

This is the translation:

" His accent almost unnoticeable, a big smile, Nathan Kellum couldn't be happier. Passionate about photography, this young American just had an exhibit at the Franco-American institute. Born in Oregon, USA, this young man came to France with his family when he was only 20 months old. Its at Malifeu middle school that his passion for photography started. (We had to do a yearbook, like in the States, where we signed at the end of the year). Nathan started quickly to shoot everywhere he went. Little by little the young man perfects his techniques. (I like portraits, black and white and long exposures). He first exposes 6 shots at the institute's library, then he institute offer him the gallery; 28 pictures for 2 weeks. (It was a dream). And its a success for the young man who sold 15 shots and is starting a new project due to come out in october. Now in a arts program at high school St genevieve, he hopes to live on his photography. Portraits or landscapes, Nathan hasn't really chosen. (All I know is that I prefer working with natural light than in a studio.) And the new art gallery at the Malifeu middle school just asked him to expose his shots next week."

Have it in Movie Size!

Have a great day!

Nathan

Mom and dad have been paving your way before you enter this world. And soon, it will be your chance to rise up and shine.
