I don't know the scientific name of this plant, commonly called wax flower plant.

实际上,我基本没用过背光的功能,看着眼晕。
Actually, I have never used this function of my macbook pro. This light makes me dizzy.
I have posted these flowers on the porch before, but tonight I decided to play with backlighting. I have been reading a lot about how backlit subjects can really have the most dramatic "pop" ......so I was trying it out and I agree, it is more interesting that the ones I have done with these plants lithted from the front. I am setting up my old black and white darkroom in the basement.....practicing that again too.

Strobist: Extreme backlighting galore; sun reflected into a lake. Shot with a macro lens at 100mm with an off-camera flash from front left to lighten up the tree.
High speed synchronized at 1/2500 and f/4.5.
I like my Cosina lens, it's not at all prone for strange sun flare effects.
I am still totally absorbed by my sunflower images. I keep finding more that I really like and being a bit more bold with them. I hope everyone is not getting bored!!!!

That is actually the moon providing some backlighting to Pacific Science Center -- not a streetlamp. I wish I could take better moony shots.
In Vancouver between the side walk and the paved road in many places the city created small garden plots which is given to nearby residents to put plants in it and water them. Some of these gardens equals to a botanical garden with unique flowers.

Anyway, had much fun while trying to focus correctly and find a reasonably working pose :)
