Trying to get some nice backlight through Ariane's hair.

I have posted these flowers on the porch before, but tonight I decided to play with backlighting. I have been reading a lot about how backlit subjects can really have the most dramatic "pop" ......so I was trying it out and I agree, it is more interesting that the ones I have done with these plants lithted from the front. I am setting up my old black and white darkroom in the basement.....practicing that again too.

One light. Backlit AB800 with 86" PLM.

Strobist: Extreme backlighting galore; sun reflected into a lake. Shot with a macro lens at 100mm with an off-camera flash from front left to lighten up the tree.

High speed synchronized at 1/2500 and f/4.5.

I like my Cosina lens, it's not at all prone for strange sun flare effects.

I am still totally absorbed by my sunflower images. I keep finding more that I really like and being a bit more bold with them. I hope everyone is not getting bored!!!!

That is actually the moon providing some backlighting to Pacific Science Center -- not a streetlamp. I wish I could take better moony shots.

Our server had an interesting, middle-European look. I made this picture as she approached our table to take our drink order. She looked straight at the lens and gave me that "let's get this over with" look. Processing the photograph in PS CS6 yielded something which turned out to be far more than I expected. Desaturating the photograph and burning the edges gave me the look I wanted. And, the restaurant makes delicious Georgian/Russian fare that is hard to find in Central Florida. Look up Ararat Restaurant.

sunset behind this weed. I liked the way the backlighting highlights the overlapping petals
