I might do a step-by-step for this, but it's pretty easy.

Make sure you have a white (or other plain background) image handy. You can make one in PicMonkey if you don't by taking one of the sample photos and putting a big white rectangle (from the overlays tool) over it and saving it.

Now, open your photo, go to Textures, choose "Upload your own" and add your white background image. Set blend mode to "normal" but keep the fade at about 30% so you can see through it. Then use the paintbrush to 'erase' the white from the subject (ie., paint in the 'original'). You can put the fade to 0% every once in a while to check how it looks. When you're happy, save it.

Another view of the orchid that I've been exploiting lately. I wanted to use natural backlighting for this image, so I placed the flower on a kitchen counter with light coming through a window behind it. I placed a black background behind the flower for contrast, but positioned it so that it wouldn't block the light on the flower. Because parts of the plant weren't getting as much of the backlight, I took three separate exposure, and then combined them manually in Photoshop. Do it yourself HDR.

Used some older Hero stamps on this one:

S1832 italian poetry background

F3255 showy blossom

C3648 native grass

F3951 pen thanks

C4418 branch & flower

This card has two backgrounds. The white one is difficult to see, but I repeatedly stamped and clear embossed the C4418 branch & flower stamp. For the green background I started with white cardstock and stamped the script stamp with green ink. I then stamped the blossoms with Versamark and clear embossed them. Finally, I went back in, sponging and rubbing more green over the top, making some parts darker than others.

Thanks for looking! :)

There is only one little patch of autumn leaves left behind my set up and I've been trying to get some time and suitable weather to take advantage. While out watching for birds yesterday, the oddest thing occurred. For a while, there were no birds. Then, a lot of birds came in a feeding frenzy, perhaps, more than two dozen, some fighting to get on the feeders while others patiently waited for their opening. After about 20 minutes, they left and there were no birds for, at least, an hour before I gave up to watch football.

I found these shoe pegs, apparently used by teachers back in the day...for math? I don't remember using them but they're fun...thought they'd make a good background!

Green grass ready to play football, in a cold morning.

This beautiful dog was standing outside with his companion owner and I asked to photograph him. This was taken in Split. I then used a wall from one of San Marino castles.

How do I get this onto my iPhone?

There are a number of ways to do this, however I think the easiest and fastest way is to download Flickr’s free app. Within the Flickr app you surf over to my photo feed to view the images (if you make me a contact then I’ll appear in the flickr contact list). When you find one you like, just click the download button and save the image directly to your phone. Quick & Simple!

I don’t have an iPhone. Can I still use it on my phone?

As of this writing this image (960 x 640) should be large enough to be used as wallpaper with the Droid / Android, BlackBerry, Windows 7, and iPhone.

How did you make it?

This background was made using graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Wacom, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, as well as several other programs.

Sliding and spiders are made for each other don't you think? I didn't know they played dead but this little garden spider certainly did but he soon came back to life after the photoshoot, one more in comment box to show you him very much alive!

HSS to you all and have a lovely day!! :-))

"You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body." -C.S. Lewis

I used this quotation once in one of my photos but since this photo has 'nothingness' as background, I think it is apt to use it again. Thank you C.S. Lewis for your genius.

We were invited to a private resort on the mountains of Murcia this weekend with Kris, Rexel and Ilaine. The place is so peaceful that it gave us time to rest and of course shoot. Hope our little time of soul searching found us back where we should really start from...God.

Happy shooting everyone!
