It is difficult to keep focused on 1 disaster when there are so many. Katrina, Japan, New Zealand, economies, terrorists, riots...
So I pay attention to the sounds of birds and dogs and cats amidst the background noise of rotten politicians and corporations...

There will be plenty of old images coming in the next days (or weeks) as I clear tons of unedited raw material fro phones and cameras in 2006-2007. Most are 'nothing special' (apolite word for mediocre but I dump them here for everyone's boredom and displeasure. Skip!

No date or location for this one of Mercedes Benz 0302 LGY196K but it is still carrying the livery of World Wide to whom it was new in June 1972.
The Duple in the background is outside someone motors lock ups and looks to be running for a Sheffield operator.

"House Sparrow on Chain Link Fence" by Patti Deters. A small House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) bird perches on a chain-link fence, its delicate warm-colored plumage contrasting with the harsh metal grid. The background is a soft, blurred beige color, drawing focus to the sparrow and the intricate details of the feathers. The little songbird seems to be lost in thought, contemplating the world beyond the chain-link fence. It sits perched, its tiny claws gripping the wire, as if contemplating a grand escape. The fence, for some a barrier, now serves as a stage for this passerine's solitary performance. The symmetrical pattern of the metal chain-link mesh provides stark contrast (juxtaposition) to the fluffy soft feathers of the sparrow, adding depth and visual interest to this simple minimalist composition. Thank you for viewing this image. If you like outdoor nature photography, please enjoy more birds, animals, and other wildlife images at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/house-sparrow-on-chain-l....
I bought this Far Far Away Double Gauze for the background, but now I am wondering if it will be too busy? I'm just doing one block and probably a wider border, so I could do a white border to calm it down, or I could do a solid background (maybe white or linen) and make the wide border out of the print. What do you think?
Week 43/52, 2015
This week’s theme for my 52 project is “Black Background.” With Halloween approaching, I decided to so some pictures of this gargoyle. Technically, it’s really a grotesque since it doesn’t have a water downspout. This sculpture sits outside on our terrace. I used natural light for this shot and I really lucked out on the time of day. This is my final shot.
Different spot, different neons..but still cool backgrounds.

A small bee that specializes in collecting oil along with pollen and probably some nectar from plants in the genus Lysimachia, the loosestrife's (but not the invasive garden loosestrife or purple loosestrife). These bees are now very uncommon, probably due to declines in the plants that they forage from and also perhaps due to the fact that there are fewer people collecting and looking at bees than there were 100 years ago. This particular one was collected by Brianne Du Clos in Maine. Photography by Dejen Mengis.

Looking back through the archives... I never processed anything from this, my last morning during my first visit to Grand Teton National Park, until now... Obviously, the weather was really bad and the quintessential shot of the Tetons in the background was impossible due to the cloud cover... But now, looking back, I feel the shot has alot of mood. It reminds me of standing there in the cold rain, a little disappointed... but hey, at least I was away on a photography trip. I've decided I like this one.
what say you?
PS: My friend's shot here: www.flickr.com/photos/semperacdc/4059344258/ kind of reminded me of this series and inspired me to go back and have another look to see if anything was worth posting... thanks
