You know this car. Everyone does. This is a replica of the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from National Lampoon's Vacation, the 1983 classic comedy written by John Hughes starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo as Clark and Ellen Griswold. The only surviving Truckster from the film is kept at the Historic Auto Attractions museum in Roscoe, Illinois. But that hasn't stopped a handful of enterprising souls from recreating one of the ugliest, yet most beloved, of all fictional vehicles ever to grace a movie screen.
This replica, built by Eric Wise of Independence, Missouri, is based on a 1985 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon. Photographed at the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour stopover in Springfield, Illinois on June 6, 2010.

Knowing about the moderate risk of severe storms on the eastern side of Colorado and the western side of Nebraska, I had planned out the day perfectly to intercept the back side of the cells about 4pm Mountain time.
Now into Yuma County Colorado, this was when all the action began. Tornado warning was in effect just a few miles north of Hwy 34 and I had a good sight on the backend of this developing severe storm.
From Fort Morgan Colorado via Hwy 34/6 back to Nebraska was my route back behind the developing cells. To honestly say... I wasn't disappointed. The open cloudscapes of Colorado are a photographers dream.

The Broken bridge is derelict pedestrian bridge located at the mouth of the Adyar River in Chennai, India.
The bridge was built to facilitate the movement of fishermen from Santhome beach to Elliot's beach over the mouth of the Adyar river. The bridge spans across the Adyar estuary bordering the backend of the Theosophical Society. The bridge partly collapsed after due to strong currents of the river during a particular monsoon, and was later never repaired.
This bridge is no more in use. This is an unsafe place at nights...

On the lunge line.
Lunging, simply put is an effective and easy way to train and exercise your horse. Involving your horse moving in a large circle around the handler which is attached typically via a long rein, and should be practiced in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.
Here at Briarwood, we love a good lunge line session in the early morning, I know I and a few others of the instructor team here come out every morning to work our horses and clients' horses on the lunge line before lessons and rides out from the stables. There truly is no better way to start your morning than drinking your preferred beverage and letting the horses fresh from turnout have some time to express their energy, and exercise for the day.
Oh! And I almost forgot to introduce you to my new homebred [see a girl can change! He isn't imported] this is a very special horse who is just coming up now through his training, and has found his place as my new western prospect for the year. Though I love my two boys who I have currently been winning on, I don't think it's fair to constantly ride them month after month in competition with very few breaks from training. So as you have all seen now, we have my new dressage mare who is a superstar 'Black Swan', and now this very promising young horse.
This is The SandMan, or as we at the barn know him 'Tony'. He is one of the first homebred horses we produced from my stallion The CandyMan, and I think we can all come together and agree that it was the right choice for me to keep this one.
He has all the movement and power you want in a western horse and he has come up through training with a strong backend and a good mind, he has all the things that made his daddy great going for him and more! Solid framed, strong feet, a large stride, and of course he is show-stoppingly beautiful. As you all know I'm very much a girl of my aesthetics, and I do firmly believe there's no such color as a good horse. But when the good horse happens to be the right color, it does help.
He does have some babies on the ground now and will have more babies on the ground coming forwards as will his sire. But we are focusing heavily on training, so- sorry for the disjointed introduction of this boy.

Leyland Lynx 1107 was looking work weary when snapped on driver training duties at the rear of Park Lane Bus Garage in Wolverhampton during January 1999. The backend body sag suffered by the type is beginning to tell.

Ideally we’d have an algorithm which automatically tuned all JPEG parameters to make a file smaller, but which would limit perceptible changes to the image. Technology exists that attempts to do this and can decrease image file size
by 30-50%.

After eighteen months of perceptual compression at Flickr, we adjusted our settings slightly to shrink images an additional 15%.

I Shot with the Nikon D500
petapixel.com/2016/01/09/i-shot-with-the-nikon-d500-here-...
--- I was amazed at the detail and pixel-level quality produced by the D500.
Not only does this camera have an astounding native range – ISO 100 to 51200 — but the quality in this range is just tremendous. What Nikon has done is basically made a DX sensor that shoots in the dark like a full-frame sensor.
Shooting concert photography:
--- I could easily shoot at ISO 6400 and ISO 12800 all day, the high ISO performance is just that good.
Summary:
We have a DX sensor that rivals the image quality of full-frame cameras for per-pixel acuity and high ISO performance, with an agility and responsiveness that is up to the most demanding photographic tasks.
--
The D500 shoots at a pretty blazing 10 FPS and will sustain this for 200 frames of 14-bit lossless compressed RAW using XQD cards.

Very late with my second post for this month. Nothing much else to say, January is a pretty shitty month with very little going on. I got some fairly 80's vibes from this particular outfit at the backend of November, still not found a proper replacement for my old black leather skirt that had to go in the bin. This one is nice but not the same length or style unfortunately.

Yes, the cars are back.... I've had some shots sitting around for a couple of months, and I figured now's the time to post them. If you don't like them, that's okay. I will return to nature with my next uploads! Thanks for your patience. :)
new backend finalised and now happy with rams/stabilizers and slides, just need to tidy up a few bits under the hood, brick layout, will then be happy
The turkey vultures are always circling above the field/swamp just beyond our backyard, but when I looked outside this morning, a very different bird caught my eye. For some reason that I couldn't determine, this beautiful bald eagle was flying low and then landed near the swamp at backend of Emerson Park, the development where I live. I ran to grab my camera, threw it into shutter priority mode, and raced out back to see what I could capture. I didn't get off as many shots as I would have liked (the camera was lagging for some reason), but I did capture several images in which its face was sharp enough.
well, another year done and a new year ahead. i have to put some serious thinking into my involvement with the group this coming year. of course, this group would be dead without our awesome moderators keeping an eye on things. a HUGE thank you goes out to Kelli, Karen, Holly and Sam for all of their hard work this year!!
... still, the backend work on the group takes a lot of time as well, and working a minimum of 12 hours/day, 7 days/week leaves me little time for the group. it seems what little time i can put it, i'm doing admin stuff and rarely have the chance to comment on others' photos.
i also missed three photos this year. i didn't forget, i was just too wasted to take photos of my boy. i hate that my group-time is spent on admin vs. going through all your wonderful photos and commenting.
so, i've got some thinking to do ...
This one was still missing: Due to a 1 layer distance between trucks and platform at the front and backend there's also a small pivoting effect to master the transition between straight and climbing tracks when entering the hump yard.

The Broken Bridge has become a popular spot to view the sunset and has been attracting drinkers. The area is generally considered unsafe after dark due to its proximity to fishing hamlets and lack of road access.
The bridge has been featured in many Tamil movies like Vaali and Aayutha Ezhuthu.

Somewhat an usual working on the last 449 Ellesmere to Oswestry trip of the date on a late summer Saturday in late June is this Optare Solo SR. This is considering a double decker off the backend of a contract on a school day or a full size saloon at other times been the usual allocation. 209 finds itself covering three round trips after been a odd allocation itself on the 401 Oswestry Town Service that morning in lieu of the usual decker, captured moving at speed in a reasonable to at times tight gap.
209 was one of three Optare Solo SRs purchased new by Tanat Valley for Powys tendered work as I understand it.
The 449 Oswestry to Ellesmere has operated with Tanat Valley since the early cuts of post deregulation of NBC managed Crosville and into privatisation of a early Crosville Wales on a previous D87 service Oswestry to Welshampton via Ellesmere. Arriva operate some weekday AM and PM peak turns as a 449 to Welshampton with subsidy from Shropshire Council with Tanat Valley operating a commerical service from 09:00 until 17:10 ex Oswestry to Ellesmere and return.
It is understood that Tanat Valley have lost the schoolday 54 Shropshire tender to the Marches School to and from Bryn from September to Arriva Midlands (the service has been cancelled by Tanat Valley on the VOSA registration process on checking) that the weekday bus operates 09:00 until 14:00 and return. Early indiacations suggest that the core service will be lost, apart from a AM and PM school short working from Babbinswood that uses the same vehicle on the 401 Oswestry Town Service between will only remain. Never a dull moment in and around Oswestry but a sad loss if the 449 does not survive in its current form.

Pride of Longbridge 2016 - Alternative Event.
For those that don't know, 2016's official PoL never took place. To be hosted in Coften Park, not too far from Longbridge itself the event was cancelled hours before the start time of 10am. Reason being due to weather, heavy rain and a waterlogged field to start with and snow in the early hours eventually saw the event off. Two unofficial events were hastily arranged by would-be attendees in order to salvage the show - one gathering hosted at Gaydon and another at the gates of MG's Londbridge facilities, I went to the latter. Permission was sought to fully utilise Lowhill Lane for the show, though not officially closed, general traffic still crawled through.
A huge appreciation must be given for the marshals at this last minute event too, having so readily relocated and coping so well with the additional stresses of safely managing live traffic movements on top of directing show vehicles.
An incredible number of vehicles took to 'the gates', no way I could have photographed them all. My uploads will run in ascending order by age.
